A Nature Inspired Bathroom

The bathroom was transformed with a multitude of materials. Our client has a strong affinity for nature. However, we wanted to maintain a spa feel in the space. Therefore, we incorporated a serene sage green paint on the walls and a stone patterned porcelain on the accent wall in hues of sage, blue and assorted neutrals. These elements combined with the cement tile flooring (also picked up in the shower niche) have a nature-inspired feel without being too literal. The rich stain on the custom vanity and linen cabinet also brings a sense of the outdoors into space while the polished nickel finishes and white color palette throughout create a crisp and sophisticated finish. These marble mosaics are so lovely to be in the same room as. Immediately you feel a sense of serenity. I like to think of them as fish scales. My client has a koi pond visible on exiting the bathroom. This was a renovation project. We removed the existing early '90s vanity, mirror and flour light fitting and all the plumbing fixtures. We than tiled the wall and put the new fixtures and fittings back. I love the combination of the black, white and timber with the soft greens of the mosaics & of course the odd house plant!

This hall 1/2 Bathroom was very outdated and needed an update. We started by tearing out a wall that separated the sink area from the toilet and shower area. We found by doing this would give the bathroom more breathing space. We installed patterned cement tile on the main floor and on the shower floor is a black hex mosaic tile, with white subway tiles wrapping the walls.

Decor InterieurLe projet : Aux Batignolles, un studio parisien de 25m2 laissé dans son jus avec une minuscule cuisine biscornue dans l’entrée et une salle de bains avec WC, vieillotte en plein milieu de l’appartement. La jeune propriétaire souhaite revoir intégralement les espaces pour obtenir un studio très fonctionnel et clair. Notre solution : Nous allons faire table rase du passé et supprimer tous les murs. Grâce à une surélévation partielle du plancher pour les conduits sanitaires, nous allons repenser intégralement l’espace tout en tenant compte de différentes contraintes techniques. Une chambre en alcôve surélevée avec des rangements tiroirs dissimulés en dessous, dont un avec une marche escamotable, est créée dans l’espace séjour. Un dressing coulissant à la verticale complète les rangements et une verrière laissera passer la lumière. La salle de bains est équipée d’une grande douche à l’italienne et d’un plan vasque sur-mesure avec lave-linge encastré. Les WC sont indépendants. La cuisine est ouverte sur le séjour et est équipée de tout l’électroménager nécessaire avec un îlot repas très convivial. Un meuble d’angle menuisé permet de ranger livres et vaisselle.

Medallion Cherry Devonshire in French Roast. The countertop is Ventia Cream quartz with two rectangular undermount sinks. Ventia Cream quartz is also installed on the tub deck and shower threshold. Moen Brantford light fixtures in oil rubbed bronze. The Moen Wynford collection in oil rubbed bronze includes the faucets, towel bars and paper holder. In the shower is Moen Rothbury shower system in oil rubbed bronze. On the floor is Cava Bianco 122x24 field tile. 浴室リフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、浴室の大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

浴室にプラスアルファでお風呂タイムをもっと楽しく

介護が必要な方には、浴室に浴槽手すりやシャワーチェア、すべり止めマットなどの安全グッズを使って、癒やしの時間を安全にゆっくりと楽しんでもらいましょう。浴室に床暖房を取り入れると、冬場のあのヒンヤリ感がなくなり、ヒートショックの防止に効果が期待できます。大粒のお湯が頭上から降り注ぐように全身を包み込むレインシャワー水栓は、効率的に身体を温めてくれます。また最近では、浴室テレビを装備して、あたたかいお湯に浸かりながらテレビ番組や映画を楽しむ方も増えています。ライフスタイルにあわせて、浴室をカスタマイズしてみてはいかがでしょうか？

ラクラク片付け、快適な浴室！

シャンプーやコンディショナーのボトルや、浴槽洗いのブラシは、ワイヤーラック、つっぱりコーナーラック、吸盤シェルフなど壁面収納グッズを活用して、浴室の使いやすい場所に設置しましょう。ボディスポンジなど、肌に触れるものはお掃除グッズから離れた場所に置き、しっかり水切りができるよう吸盤フックなどにかけるといいでしょう。また、浴室内には必要なアイテムだけをセレクトして置き、余分なモノは浴室外の脱衣所の棚に保管するなどの工夫も、お風呂場を清潔に保つコツです。風呂ふたも、フックやスタンド等を使って収納し、しっかり乾燥させれば、カビやぬめりの発生を防ぐことができます。

ホテルのようなバスルームをつくるコツ

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
