Like its namesake, the beloved Sleeping Beauty, this home embodies family, fantasy and adventure in their truest form. Visions are seldom what they seem, but this home did begin 'Once Upon a Dream'. Engaged by the client to update this 1970's architecturally designed waterfront home by Frank Cavalier, we refreshed the interiors whilst highlighting the existing features such as the Queensland Rosewood timber ceilings. The concept presented was a clean, industrial style interior and exterior lift, collaborating the existing Japanese and Mid Century hints of architecture and design. The owners of this 1958 mid-century modern home desired a refreshing new master bathroom that was open and bright. The previous bathroom felt dark and cramped, with dated fixtures. A new bathroom was designed, borrowing much needed space from the neighboring garage, and allowing for a larger shower, a generous vanity with integrated trough sink and a soaking tub.

These Broomall, PA clients wanted a sleek modern master bath and it turned out great. We chose a Japanese soaking tub for in front of the bathrooms large window. This tub choice gave the client the freestanding tub they wanted and was a great choice for the size of the space. We custom made an expansive floating vanity and linen closet in Asian night finish to fill the adjacent wall with plenty of storage. All new tile was installed throughout the bathroom floors and walk in shower and toilet room. A sliding frameless glass door was added between the toilet/ shower room and the main bath. The clean quartz countertops, full length mirror and all the other fixtures add to the new modern feel.

Master Bath with A View Constantly on the move, these homeowners are busy parents of two active boys. So when they have a moment to relax, they want a space that is just for them. Their newly designed master bathroom features a luxurious double vanity with a storage tower and a spacious double shower with a frameless glass surround. Both of these elements are clad in a spectacular granite with sharp brown and rust lines, coupled with brown and beige field tiles that make a bold statement as you enter the space. Requesting lots of storage space, the new vanity has room for all of the homeowners’ items, with room to spare. Large Roburn medicine cabinets are recessed into the wall over the sinks for added storage and a streamlined, contemporary look. Originally a wide window extended most of the way across the back wall. This window was dramatically reduced to make room for the very large shower, which has two walls of shower heads. This was very important for the homeowners, so that the space can easily fit two people at once. The new windows still offer great views of the back yard, but also give much needed privacy that the room was originally lacking. The rich, espresso stained cabinets compliment the colors in the granite and add to the crisp, contemporary feel of the space. A lot of thought went into designing the new, large shower, and removing the original soaker tub. The homeowners decided that since they have never used the tub in the ten years of living in the home, that they wanted a space that truly reflected their needs. The result is a luxurious, master bath retreat.

By moving a bathroom wall just a few inches, we were allowed enough space to create a modern bath with dual vanities, glass shower, and also a closet area.

Just off of the master bedroom in our recently completed George to the Rescue project was a small and original bathroom. Tiny, pink, and stuck in the '60s, it was a less than ideal place for a working mom of two kids to start and end her day. We created a bright and fun, but low maintenance retreat for her behind a custom sliding barn door. We claimed an additional 2 feet for the bathroom by moving the wall and stealing a bit of space (it wasn't missed!) from the bedroom. Oversized ceramic subway tile laid to look like shiplap (shiplap! Everyone loved shiplap!) gives the now spacious shower an updated farmhouse feel. Exaggerated shower hardware (an 18" handle!), @hansgroheusa faucets (generously donated!), a pivoting rounded rectangle mirror, and a pair of articulating arm sconces all in matte black finish punctuate the space and mirror the hardware finish throughout the renovation. The elegant floral Anna French wallpaper is a surprising background for the substantial charcoal and white marble-topped vanity, and makes this a feminine space, just for a well-deserving mom.
