Luscious Bathroom in Storrington, West Sussex A luscious green bathroom design is complemented by matt black accents and unique platform for a feature bath. The Brief The aim of this project was to transform a former bedroom into a contemporary family bathroom, complete with a walk-in shower and freestanding bath. This Storrington client had some strong design ideas, favouring a green theme with contemporary additions to modernise the space. Storage was also a key design element. To help minimise clutter and create space for decorative items an inventive solution was required. Design Elements The design utilises some key desirables from the client as well as some clever suggestions from our bathroom designer Martin. The green theme has been deployed spectacularly, with metro tiles utilised as a strong accent within the shower area and multiple storage niches. All other walls make use of neutral matt white tiles at half height, with William Morris wallpaper used as a leafy and natural addition to the space. A freestanding bath has been placed central to the window as a focal point. The bathing area is raised to create separation within the room, and three pendant lights fitted above help to create a relaxing ambience for bathing. Special Inclusions Storage was an important part of the design. A wall hung storage unit has been chosen in a Fjord Green Gloss finish, which works well with green tiling and the wallpaper choice. Elsewhere plenty of storage niches feature within the room. These add storage for everyday essentials, decorative items, and conceal items the client may not want on display. A sizeable walk-in shower was also required as part of the renovation, with designer Martin opting for a Crosswater enclosure in a matt black finish. The matt black finish teams well with other accents in the room like the Vado brassware and Eastbrook towel rail. Project Highlight The platformed bathing area is a great highlight of this family bathroom space. It delivers upon the freestanding bath requirement of the brief, with soothing lighting additions that elevate the design. Wood-effect porcelain floor tiling adds an additional natural element to this renovation. The End Result The end result is a complete transformation from the former bedroom that utilised this space. This home remodel consisted of opening up the kitchen space that was previously closed off from the living and dining areas, installing new flooring throughout the home, and remodeling both bathrooms. The goal was to make the main living space better for entertaining and provide a more functional kitchen for multiple people to be able to cook in at once. The result? Basically a whole new house!

This master bath was dark and dated. Although a large space, the area felt small and obtrusive. By removing the columns and step up, widening the shower and creating a true toilet room I was able to give the homeowner a truly luxurious master retreat. (check out the before pictures at the end) The ceiling detail was the icing on the cake! It follows the angled wall of the shower and dressing table and makes the space seem so much larger than it is. The homeowners love their Nantucket roots and wanted this space to reflect that.

The tub was eliminated in favor of a large walk-in shower featuring double shower heads, multiple shower sprays, a steam unit, two wall-mounted teak seats, a curbless glass enclosure and a minimal infinity drain. Additional floor space in the design allowed us to create a separate water closet. A pocket door replaces a standard door so as not to interfere with either the open shelving next to the vanity or the water closet entrance. We kept the location of the skylight and added a new window for additional light and views to the yard. We responded to the client’s wish for a modern industrial aesthetic by featuring a large metal-clad double vanity and shelving units, wood porcelain wall tile, and a white glass vanity top. Special features include an electric towel warmer, medicine cabinets with integrated lighting, and a heated floor. Industrial style pendants flank the mirrors, completing the symmetry. This master bathroom renovation transforms a builder-grade standard into a personalized retreat for our lovely Stapleton clients. Recognizing a need for change, our clients called on us to help develop a space that would capture their aesthetic loves and foster relaxation. Our design focused on establishing an airy and grounded feel by pairing various shades of white, natural wood, and dynamic textures. We replaced the existing ceramic floor tile with wood-look porcelain tile for a warm and inviting look throughout the space. We then paired this with a reclaimed apothecary vanity from Restoration Hardware. This vanity is coupled with a bright Caesarstone countertop and warm bronze faucets from Delta to create a strikingly handsome balance. The vanity mirrors are custom-sized and trimmed with a coordinating bronze frame. Elegant wall sconces dance between the dark vanity mirrors and bright white full height mirrors flanking the bathtub. The tub itself is an oversized freestanding bathtub paired with a tall bronze tub filler. We've created a feature wall with Tile Bar's Billowy Clouds ceramic tile floor to ceiling behind the tub. The wave-like movement of the tiles offers a dramatic texture in a pure white field. We removed the existing shower and extended its depth to create a large new shower. The walls are tiled with a large format high gloss white tile. The shower floor is tiled with marble circles in varying sizes that offer a playful aesthetic in an otherwise minimalist space. We love this pure, airy retreat and are thrilled that our clients get to enjoy it for many years to come!
