On a hillside property in Santa Monica hidden behind trees stands our brand new constructed from the grounds up guest unit. This unit is only 300sq. but the layout makes it feel as large as a small apartment. Vaulted 12' ceilings and lots of natural light makes the space feel light and airy. A small kitchenette gives you all you would need for cooking something for yourself, notice the baby blue color of the appliances contrasting against the clean white cabinets and counter top. The wood flooring give warmth to the neutral white colored walls and ceilings. A nice sized bathroom bosting a 3'x3' shower with a corner double door entrance with all the high quality finishes you would expect in a master bathroom. The exterior of the unit was perfectly matched to the existing main house. These ADU (accessory dwelling unit) also called guest units and the famous term "Mother in law unit" are becoming more and more popular in California and in LA in particular.

Interior designer Anne-Marie Leigh has completely renovated her home in Godalming, Surrey from top to bottom and the house now looks fantastic. Clement’s EB16 windows were chosen to replace the original metal fenestration, offering not only great looks but also much improved thermal performance. Anne-Marie discusses the project and her experience working with Clement: “When we moved into our Arts and Crafts home it was clear that we had a big project on our hands. The house hadn’t really been touched for 40+ years so one of the first things we knew we needed to do was to replace the single glazed steel windows. The insulation was terrible and the house was cold and draughty. The original wooden window frames were in great condition so we just needed to replace the actual glass element and to remain true to the architecture and style of the house we knew the windows had to be steel. After lots of research we found a local company, Clement Windows and loved their slim framed steel windows which were perfect for our property. From our first meeting with Clement right through to ordering and installation our experience was fantastic. It was not the easiest of jobs as the windows had to be installed in stages due to a bigger building project to extend and totally refurbish the house but Clement have been so easy to deal with every step of the way. Creating a traditional modern space for the family to use. Some of those details included satin chrome features such as taps and double towel rails. A modern freestanding bath that was 1500mm long. Plus the frameless shower screen with a tiled shower base. A very functional and family-friendly design.

The back to wall bath installed into a half hob, creates a streamline bath area. Vertical double niches break up the long wall area and the dotty tiles add interest to the room. All tiles are supplied by Oscar & Co Tiles and Bathware.

For this ski-in, ski-out mountainside property, the intent was to create an architectural masterpiece that was simple, sophisticated, timeless and unique all at the same time. The clients wanted to express their love for Japanese-American craftsmanship, so we incorporated some hints of that motif into the designs. The highlight of the master bathroom is the mosaic wall tile, a polished onyx and marble design of peaceful floating lily pads, symbolic of nature’s restorative properties. Unique copper fixtures warm up the space while chromatically integrating with the home’s walnut woods, with the walnut cabinetry and open shelving, and nicely complement the dual-finish mocha tub and the black quartzite shower slab. The slab is book matched, creating a stunning effect. Flooring and sinks in matching limestone, curved vanity mirrors and onyx with bronze sconces complete the contemporary design. Functional additions include towel warmers, fog-free shaving shower mirror, steam shower and heated floors.

The principle bathroom was completely reconstructed and a new doorway formed to the adjoining bedroom. We retained the original vanity unit and had the marble top and up stand's re-polished. The two mirrors above are hinged and provide storage for lotions and potions. To the one end we had a shaped wardrobe with drawers constructed to match the existing detailing - this proved extremely useful as it disguised the fact that the wall ran at an angle behind. Every cm of space was utilised. Above the bath and doorway (not seen) was storage for suitcases etc.
