This bathroom remodel in Fulton, Missouri started out by removing sheetrock, old wallpaper and flooring, taking the bathroom nearly down to the studs before its renovation. Then the Dimensions In Wood team laid ceramic tile flooring throughout. A fully glassed-in, walk-in Onyx base shower was installed with a handheld shower sprayer, a handicap-accessible, safety grab bar, and small shower seat. Decorative accent glass tiles add an attractive element to the floor-to-ceiling shower tile, and also extend inside the two shelf shower niche. A full bathtub still gives the home owners the option for a shower or a soak. The single sink vanity has a Taj Mahal countertop which is a quartzite that resembles Italian Calacatta marble in appearance, but is much harder and more durable. Custom cabinets provide ample storage and the wall is protected by a glass tile backsplash which matches the shower. Recessed can lights installed in the ceiling keep the bathroom bright, in connection with the mirror mounted sconces. Our clients wanted to increase the size of their shower, omit their whirlpool tub and make better use of the open floor space in their master bathroom. Designer Barbara Bircher, CKD, moved and removed walls to open up the master bath and enlarge the master closet. Pocket doors were used to eliminate door interference with storage accessibility. Barbara created two separate vanity stations for him and her. Rotating the toilet created a more spacious water closet concept while maintaining privacy. The shower was relocated and enlarged to include a bench, which continues under the window and houses individual hampers drawers. This new design included a linen closet tucked in nicely behind the shower. For those of you who are on the fence about removing a whirlpool tub, Steve and Mindy both agree they do not miss their whirlpool tub in any way!!

This master bath, originally built in the 80's, deserved a new makeover. The corner tub was replaced with a beautiful stand-alone tube, original cabinetry was painted in the new midnight blue navy and beautiful tile and quartz countertops gave the space a look of class and elegance. Three oversized matching mirrors were spaced evenly over the asymmetrical cabinet configuration to add balance to the area. The addition of a turquoise beaded globe chandelier added a touch of color to the charming corner, The floor tile goes seamlessly into the shower and around the tub surround with stone accent tile topping off around the backsplash into the shower. Soft and lush, this bathroom is a real retreat!

With a little bit of reconfiguration; we were able to redesign this bath to have it all. We relocated this bathroom’s toilet and changed some other plumbing locations. Now this bathroom has a double vanity with makeup area, a sizable frameless glass enclosed shower, freestanding tub, and a separate toilet room. Fabuwood cabinetry in Nexus Frost combined with Fantasy Brown Quartzite countertops look great with the new tile colors. New 3x30 wood look tiles were used for this bath’s flooring and 12X24 inch tiles with a nice mosaic were used in the new shower. The new bright paint color on the walls is a great contrasting color with the rooms other grey and white tones.

浴室リフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、浴室の大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
