Great design makes all the difference - bold material choices were just what was needed to give this little bathroom some BIG personality! Our clients wanted a dark, moody vibe, but had always heard that using dark colors in a small space would only make it feel smaller. Not true! Introducing a larger vanity cabinet with more storage and replacing the tub with an expansive walk-in shower immediately made the space feel larger, without any structural alterations. We went with a dark graphite tile that had a mix of texture on the walls and in the shower, but then anchored the space with white shiplap on the upper portion of the walls and a graphic floor tile (with mostly white and light gray tones). This technique of balancing dark tones with lighter tones is key to achieving those moody vibes, without creeping into cavernous territory. Subtle gray/blue/green tones on the vanity blend in well, but still pop in the space, and matte black fixtures add fantastic contrast to really finish off the whole look!

The bathroom in this home features a double wide shower. The original inspiration for the shower walls was a herringbone wall tile design in which each tile is a parallelogram. But one of the things we pride ourselves on at d2e is being able to capture the look for less. It turns out that parallelogram tile was a little pricey. Our substitution: similarly proportioned black rectangular tiles installed in a herringbone pattern to elevate the look of a budget-friendly material. A simple, clean and fresh look was created in this remodeled achromatic guest bathroom (see Before photo). The vanity area was enlarged for a bigger vanity. The new black and white achromatic color scheme includes 4 coordinated tiles: gray subway tile, no-skid river rock on the shower floor, a patterned porcelain floor tile, and an interesting basket-weave tile surrounding mirror. The room is enhanced with line drawings of 3 different flowers. Black matte hardware and trim on the sliding shower doors offer contrast and complete the look.

This space was transformed from a dressing room until a full master bathroom. Painted emerald maple cabinets with brushed bronze hardware flanks wall to wall on one side of the space with a large shower stall on the other. The Onyx Collection shower stall in wavy wall tile pattern allows for an easy, no maintenance shower. Delta Trinsic Collection faucet line through-out in brushed bronze allows for a pop of color that compliments the other surrounds.

In this whole house remodel all the bathrooms were refreshed. The guest and kids bath both received a new tub, tile surround and shower doors. The vanities were upgraded for more storage. Taj Mahal Quartzite was used for the counter tops. The guest bath has an interesting shaded tile with a Moroccan lamp inspired accent tile. This created a sophisticated guest bathroom. The kids bath has clean white x-large subway tiles with a fun penny tile stripe.

This renovation consisted of 2 washroom upgrades. We gutted the ensuite washroom and installed a new 72" vanity and top with an undermount sink and matching vanity mirror. We installed a a freestanding bathtub and faucet. An acrylic shower base was installed with a sliding glass door system and rain shower with a handheld slide bar. 12"x24" porcelain tile was installed for the ensuite floor, as well as for the shower walls. A basket weave accent border was installed in the shower and baseboard tile was installed throughout the washroom.

浴室リフォームのデザイン、レイアウト、費用

浴室リフォームの技法には大きく分けて「在来工法」と「ユニットバス (システムバス)」の2通りがあります。

在来工法：「在来工法」とは、壁、床、窓枠、浴槽などを実際の現場で左官、大工、タイル職人等が作り上げていく技法で、浴室の大きさや形に合わせて自由にレイアウトをデザインできたり、趣のあるタイルで壁を演出することができたりといった点が利点と言えます。昔ながらのこの技法には、費用が高い、工期が長い、年数が経つと水漏れの心配がある、などの注意点があります。
ユニットバス（システムバス）：比較的新しいこの技法は、予め工場で生産されたパーツ (壁、バスタブ、シャワーユニットなど) を現場で組み立てていく技法で、防水性、断熱性に優れ、工期を短縮できるだけでなく、費用も大幅に抑えることができます。在来工法と比べると、デザインやレイアウトの自由度が低い点が欠点としてあげられます。

浴室にプラスアルファでお風呂タイムをもっと楽しく

介護が必要な方には、浴室に浴槽手すりやシャワーチェア、すべり止めマットなどの安全グッズを使って、癒やしの時間を安全にゆっくりと楽しんでもらいましょう。浴室に床暖房を取り入れると、冬場のあのヒンヤリ感がなくなり、ヒートショックの防止に効果が期待できます。大粒のお湯が頭上から降り注ぐように全身を包み込むレインシャワー水栓は、効率的に身体を温めてくれます。また最近では、浴室テレビを装備して、あたたかいお湯に浸かりながらテレビ番組や映画を楽しむ方も増えています。ライフスタイルにあわせて、浴室をカスタマイズしてみてはいかがでしょうか？

ラクラク片付け、快適な浴室！

シャンプーやコンディショナーのボトルや、浴槽洗いのブラシは、ワイヤーラック、つっぱりコーナーラック、吸盤シェルフなど壁面収納グッズを活用して、浴室の使いやすい場所に設置しましょう。ボディスポンジなど、肌に触れるものはお掃除グッズから離れた場所に置き、しっかり水切りができるよう吸盤フックなどにかけるといいでしょう。また、浴室内には必要なアイテムだけをセレクトして置き、余分なモノは浴室外の脱衣所の棚に保管するなどの工夫も、お風呂場を清潔に保つコツです。風呂ふたも、フックやスタンド等を使って収納し、しっかり乾燥させれば、カビやぬめりの発生を防ぐことができます。

ホテルのようなバスルームをつくるコツ

ホテルライクなバスルームに誰しもが憧れたことがあるでしょう。すっきりとした収納、余計なものやプライベート感がない、トイレとバスが一緒の三点ユニットでも清潔感があるのがホテルのバスルームの特徴です。このようなシンプルな印象のバスルームにするコツは、収納をできるかぎり1カ所にまとめるということです。タオルや着替え、トイレットペーパーや洗剤など溢れがち (しかもバスルームに置きがち) な日用品のストックは、必要分だけをコンパクトに整理して、同素材や同系色の収納ボックスやラックにまとめることで、全体を統一感ある印象に見せます。ところで、このようなホテルライクなバスルームはアメリカのバスルームが元になっていますが、アメリカの Houzz サイトの特集記事 (Story) には、“Bathroom 1 1/2” や “Bathroom 3/4” などと表記されているものがあります。これは、バスルームを「バスタブ」、「シャワー」、「トイレ」、「洗面台」の4つ分けて、それぞれ 1/4 と考え、4つすべてある場合は ”Bathroom 1”、それに加えてトイレと洗面台がもう1カ所ずつある場合は “Bathroom 1 1/2”、シャワー、トイレ、洗面台だけでバスタブがない場合は “Bathroom 3/4” のように表現されます。
