Because the refrigerator greeted guests, we softened its appearance by surrounding it with perforated stainless steel as door panels. They, in turn, flowed naturally off the hand-cast glass with a yarn-like texture. The textures continue into the backsplash with the 1"-square mosaic tile. The copper drops are randomly distributed throughout it, just slightly more concentrated behind the cooktop. The Thermador hood pulls out when in use. We opened up the kitchen to the dining room by taking down a wall and expanding the kitchen. We dramatically increased storage while making it more ergonomic for cooks of different heights with an Asian style aesthetic.

This kitchen showcase hand crafted & elegantly hand carved base cabinets made from solid Indian rose wood , combined with an eclectic mix of vintage wall cabinets such as buffet unit & one of a kind narrow and shallow old medicine cabinet. The modern stainless steel appliances brings out the old and new sensibility brilliantly together. Whether through the elaborate design or the sophisticated craftsmanship this Inde-Art kitchen amalgamates quality, comfort and beauty.

“I don’t want my kitchen to look like anyone else’s.” This was the client’s request to the designer. Influenced by the style of Bali and the client’s own design sense, the new style was dubbed “Julinese” (her name is Julie). In keeping with the Balinese style, bold design elements were chosen – 6” pyramidal columns stained with a deep java finish, support the 3” thick Purple Dunas granite countertops and the custom glass eating bar. The electrical outlets are housed in these columns. Further supporting the Balinese theme, the ceiling over the island was raised in a pyramid style – evoking an outdoor feel. Kable lighting illuminates the kitchen. Topping the cabinets along the walls and the window sill are dark grey 3” thick concrete counters. When the folding windows are open, the sill becomes a 15” deep serving bar for outdoor entertaining. For ergonomics – the dishwasher and microwave were raised to 42” and 54” comparatively. By using multiple textures, the overwhelming wall of brick was softened and integrated into the space. Note the live edge on the slab of elm, the yarn-like texture in the glass, the perforated stainless steel panels in many doors, and the 1"-square glass tiles in the backsplash. The Hi-Definition laminate also has a textured face. The pattern in the floor tile relates to the hardwood flooring in the adjacent rooms. The island top is Richlite.

This kitchen features a large island at its center-point. The fridge is paneled to match the maple cabinets creating a unified look. Quartz counter tops, long contemporary pulls, and linear tile backsplash make this kitchen unique and stylish.

We took an old boring white kitchen and jazzed it up for a creative and spunky homeowner using Brookhaven II cabinetry. Face frames in a pale cherry highlight the burgundy finished doors; a color scheme which is continued in the trim details and enhanced with contrasting green granite. While the basic work triangle did not change, we added usability with many deep drawers and lazy susans (both base and wall) in the corners. The dining area opens onto the kitchen and the patio space. We opted to retain the existing cabinet frames, however, we had new maple doors made to size. While the dining room features hickory flooring, we specified a complementary natural slate material for the kitchen. Our client retained the white stove she had recently purchased. The objective was to eventually replace it with a stainless steel range.

The primary objective of this project was to create the ability to install a refrigerator sized for a family of six. The original 14 cubic foot capacity refrigerator was much too small for a four-bedroom home. Additional objects included providing wider (safer) isles, more counter space for food preparation and gathering, and more accessible storage. After installing a beaming above the original refrigerator and dual walk-in pantries (missing despite being in the original building plans), this area of the kitchen was opened up to make room for a much larger refrigerator, pantry storage, small appliance storage, and a concealed information center including backpack storage for the youngest family members (complete with an in-drawer PDAs charging station). By relocating the sink, the isle between the island and the range became much less congested and provided space for below counter pull-out pantries for oils, vinegars, condiments, baking sheets and more. Taller cabinets on the new sink wall provides improved storage for dishes. The kitchen is now more conducive to frequent entertaining but is cozy enough for a family that cooks and eats together on a night basis. The beautiful materials, natural light and marine view are the icing on the cake.
