1. Australia
This Melbourne, Victoria, kitchen by First Avenue Homes is a study in contrasts that integrates key material and decorating trends in a classic, timeless way.
We’ve been seeing an increase in dark palettes used in Australian kitchens, and this space shows how to successfully balance those colors with light features to create a lasting style.
The light veining in the Portsea Gray marble countertops and backsplash offer balance to the dark cabinetry and range hood. Vertical lines on the island base, hood and pantry wall cabinets contrast with the rounded edge of the island countertop, the arched window into the wine cabinet and the oversize round pantry door handles.

2. France
This kitchen illustrates an approach to laying out a kitchen that’s popular in France right now. Relocating a kitchen to a hallway can sometimes better optimize a home’s square footage.
During the renovation of this apartment in Paris, interior architect Amélie Colombet of Inhale removed a wall between the living room and a hallway. She then created a new open and bright kitchen in the former hallway. The former kitchen became a comfortable new bathroom.
The light wood cabinets, pastel colors and hexagonal floor tiles create a natural style that’s also trending in France right now.

4. India
These homeowners wanted a crisply designed, spacious kitchen, but a shaft between the former kitchen and utility room had left them with only a tiny space to cook in. Delhi designer Rohit Chaudhary of Amusing Interior kept the column as a partition wall but combined the two spaces to create a more expansive kitchen.
Open shelves and glass cabinets help the space feel light and bright. The cabinets and shutters are made of HDHMR (high-density, high-moisture-resistance) boards, while the countertops are KalingaStone, an engineered marble manufactured in Delhi.

9. United Kingdom
In the U.K., we’ve been seeing more interest in natural color palettes and biophilic design. And this lovely space by Shere Kitchens showcases that trend beautifully.
The sage green of the island (Vintage Vogue by Benjamin Moore) references the outside world. Plenty of natural light from bifold doors at one end of the room and light greige cabinets (Light Pewter by Benjamin Moore) keep the room feeling bright and airy.
