Here are some bullet points: 1) Luis showed up on time and ready to go on the free estimate (yes, can you believe it - a free estimate without any pressure to sign contract on the spot!) 2) While providing the estimate, Luis provided numerous options for my deck of which to choose from. I never felt like I was being led to make a certain choice (whether it be materials, design, etc) 3)The job was done ahead of schedule. Yes, that's right, I wrote AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. “When it came to finding a good composite deck building contractor near Barrington, I was stumped. We are new to the Barrington & Inverness area and did not know many local deck builders or decking contractors nearby that may be able to help with replacing or repairing my crumbling back deck. We moved into an older home in downtown Barrington that we knew had deck repairs to be done from the initial inspections but soon found out that we needed to replace the entire deck after a more thorough deck inspection was done. After meeting with Tom from Platinum decks, we realized half the work in finding a good decking contractor is having the knowledge to determine the good local contractors from the bad. The fact that these guys were ready to spend the energy educating us spoke volumes when it came time make a decision which is one of the big reasons we chose Platinum Decking in Barrington to build our new deck. The entire deck building process was seamless from start to finish. The deck building crews were very friendly and took the time to explain some unforeseen deck ledger issues as soon as they came up. After a few weeks of hard work, we finally had the composite wood deck of our dreams! “Our garden club hired General Masonry Inc.to replace a stone pillar that was leaning due to problems with the foundation. They took the pillar down, cleaned and re-used the stones, created a new foundation and rebuilt the pillar. It looks great. I was especially impressed with the company and how they worked with the village of Wilmette. Often, obtaining permits and follow up electrical work, which was the village's responsibility, takes time. General Masonry Inc. was on top of the communication among all the involved parties and our pillar had electricity within a few days of its completion. “Chicagoland Builders (CB) completed a 900 square foot addition on my homes. We built over the garage, laundry room and bar area which all had a single story flat roof. We significantly enlarged two rooms, added two bathrooms, expanded three closets into large walk-in closets and added an office. We replaced all the siding with hardy board, re-did the duct work to allow for dual zone heating and A/C, replaced the carpet floors on the main floor with hardwood, updated the electrical and water service, removed the brick arches in the front of the house and changed it to a quarter stone look, re-did the porch and replaced/expanded the back deck. I'm sure I'm missing something, but in short it was a major renovation. I took it out to bid with multiple contractors and CB was by far the best price and very informative and responsive throughout the bidding price which made my wife and I feel comfortable (was also recommend by my architect which helped). CB did a fantastic job. They do high quality work and were very responsive throughout the job. As expected with any major renovation there were issues that came up during the job, but they were always addressed. The job stayed on schedule and we were able to move back in the house when expected. There were a few lingering things that took longer than expected but it was primarily related to materials being on back order which I can't fault CB for. Our home looks like new construction and we get compliments all the time on how nice it looks, not just from friends and family that will say it looks good even if it doesn't, but from random people walking by which make a point to come up and tell us how wonderful the place looks. I would highly recommend them.”
