“Doug did a masterful, whole house, job for us in 2009. He began by installing a pull-down attic stair so we could access this storage space more easily; he finished our basement which included sectioning off a storage/workbench area by creating a separate room, building amazing shelving to accommodate the most intense but organized packrat; he painted the entire interior of the house, remodeled the kitchen and downstairs powder room which included laying a tile floor, widened and installed arched doorways in the downstairs of our previously faceless '70s box of a house, along with beautiful crown molding in the living and dining rooms, and installing an entire wall of BIBCs in the living room. He removed a hideous built in sideboard and replaced it with a lovely large double window in the dining room. The most impactful aspect of this job though was removing all soffits in the kitchen, and cutting the cabinets back from two foot depth to standard one foot, which added a food of floor space to the kitchen. He removed a peninsula counter and added a bi-level island. We were working with the idea of making the house more accessible as well for a wheelchair-bound family member and succeeded. He then wanted the new frig to be sunk into the cabinets as in built-in, but that required punching through to the room on the backside of the kitchen which is the living room running the length of the front of the house from the front door. The result was moving that long wall dividing the front of the house from the back, and artfully creating a nook in the living room for a treasured chest, and because the dining room is on that wall, it enlarged the dining room as well. He added an arch between the dining room and living room, giving a more artful and defined sense to these two rooms.
