“Solstice Design designed our salon. Janet's eye for detail was able to take what I wanted and create a salon I would not have been able to design myself but exactly what I wanted. Janet picked colors that complimented the space, yet expanded on it to create a comfortable yet spacious feeling. It's upscale without feeling stuffy. It's modern without feeling cold. “Marcye Philbrook did interior design work for us over a period of about a year. She is not only a great designer, but a delightful person to interact with in every way. Marcye is a good listener — she quickly understood what we were looking for and adapted her proposals to suit our tastes and sensibilities, while also introducing us to a lot of creative, new ideas. She even expertly negotiated differences between me and my husband, searching for products and regenerating designs until she could please us both. Her design concepts for the rooms in our home were natural, practical, designs-to-live-in. She has a wonderful sense for color and texture — I particularly enjoyed working with her to choose fabrics for pillow sets for our den and living room. The results were quite different for the two rooms, but each set is like a little artwork in itself, with a few fun, specially constructed patchworks that she put together thinking about both design and efficient use of the fabric. She also has great contacts for painters, wallpaperers, rug dealers, seamstresses, cabinet makers, etc., and was able to subcontract directly or guide us to businesses that were honest and reliable and who provided excellent quality products and services. When we realized we had a very tight spot for a bathroom sink, she custom designed a cabinet herself to maximize the use of the space and even made the trip to the marble company warehouse to personally choose the cut of stone to use for the top. I love Marcye and I’d hire her again in a heartbeat.”

“Best we have worked with, hands down! After a bad experience with a different designer 16 years ago, we were reluctant to seek these services again. Wanting to completely redo our kitchen and family room, we reached out to Sheri a little nervous but open to (and desperately needing) new ideas. Sheri did not disappoint. In fact, she transformed our living space, and met the needs and every desire of a large and bustling family with eclectic tastes by creating a space that is beautiful, warm, inviting and stayed within our budget. Sheri brought us great ideas, did not take offense at all if we didn't like something, sought out sales and great pricing from vendors, managed the delivery process, facilitated the ordering process....I can't say enough good things about her. And as we continue to move through our house, redecorating and renovating, we will bring Sheri along every step of the way. Highly recommended!”

“The Look does it all! Whether you need an idea or have one you can't quite make come alive, owner Colleen Lake will take it to a level you hadn't even dreamed of! She takes the time to listen to the needs and desires of the customer, and envisions several concepts to choose from, each more creative than imagined. Her products are top-quality, and the services provided are complete down to the finest detail. My project started out a disaster, and she came in and when it was finished I didn't think I was in the same space. I now enjoy a home that is a showplace I am proud to call my own. You get what you pay for with interior design, and it was worth every dollar spent. We stayed on budget and the work was completed on time. She even came back at Christmas and decorated using my own furniture, decorations, which were extensive, and the result was so beautiful I wish I could leave them up all year long! A great experience overall!”

インテリアデザイナーと建築士との違いは、建築基準法などの建築に関わる法令で定められた基準を守りながら建築の意匠設計を行うことができるのが建築士であるのに対し、各種法令に反しない範囲で建築の意匠設計の一部である“インテリアデザインのみ”を担当するのがインテリアデザイナーです。そのため、建築士の職能の一部を補助する役割としてインテリアデザイナーが位置づけられることもあります。大学や専門学校でデザインについて学んだ後、家具メーカーや建築会社などで実務経験を積むのが一般的で、インテリアデザイナーを名乗るのに特別な資格は特に必要ありませんが、実際の施工まで手がけられるよう、インテリア設計士資格や建築士免許を取得する人も多いです。
