“The project: Renovation of my home; typical ranch structure built in 1952. The house had never been updated when purchased other than installing cable. I am the second owner, a rare find where I live. The house was built with the finest construction technics of the day including use of dimensional lumber instead of plywood for exterior sheathing and underlayment for floors. The renovation work had to match the integrity of the original workmanship. Major work consisted of: gutting and reinstalling kitchen and two bath rooms addition of a front porch updating the plumbing and electrical throughout to meet local building codes painting throughout Home Remedies was: Professional in their workmanship and diligent about matching original construction quality. Familiar with the "unknowns" in a house of this age. Had the technical skills and equipment needed to do the job right. Aware of their own limitations and brought in other skilled professionals when needed. And recalled these professionals to make it right if the work did not meet my or their expectations. Contentious of the fact I was LIVING in the house during renovation. Willing to work with me as an owner/designer making the most of the opportunities found during renovation. Had a sense of humor and enjoyed their work. What could have gone better for both sides: Detailed planning session early on - things flow smoother. Regular budget reports - management and decision making simpler Prioritizing of workflow - we all know what is needed when; no last minute scrambling and purchasing above budgeted figures. Summary: I love my home, love the renovations, and will call on Home Remedies when I am ready to complete some items that were cut from the budget for this project.
