“We contracted with Open Concept Home Design in 2012 to design and build a major addition to our modest 1400 sf bungalow. We met with five other design build companies in the area but were most impressed with OCHD. The design process was handled by Niels, the owner, and it was a fun collaborative process that resulted in a floor plan that met all of our wish list with a beautiful exterior that seemlessly integrated the existing structure. Our home was transformed from a cramped little house to a gracious living space with room to entertain large crowds, closets everywhere (!), a beautiful master bedroom and ensuite and a huge kitchen and adjacent dining area. The end result was everything we wanted and more, on time and on budget (they are known for tight cost control). The building process was extremely well executed with constant oversight by OCHD to ensure that no detail was overlooked. OCHD took care of everything, we only had to make the fun decisions like choosing finishes or paint colours, but even there we were given lots of suggestions when we couldn't decide or were suffering from "decision exhaustion". Yet if we wanted to make changes along the way, those were easily accommodated. If you are a homeowner contemplating a renovation or new build, you would do well to at least meet with OCHD for a free consult. Reasonable construction costs, excellent design sense, a great client-builder relationship, and most importantly a beautiful final product - your new home! We are new to cabin building and he helped so much. From positioning windows, to designing porches to the pitch of the roof. He has worked with a lot of contractors so he has great ideas. Working with him on Zoom calls was easy and fast. He really knows how to use the software that produces the drawings. It was excellent to see the cabin in a 3D.
