I really enjoyed the experience of working with Steven Allen Designs. Communication was outstanding, everything was in writing and easily accessible through their website. We had weekly meetings on site, so there was never any confusion or misunderstandings about work in progress. And the quality of the work was excellent. Furthermore, whenever I’ve needed a little touchup in the almost 2 years since the work has been completed, the staff have been great and always happy to help me.

We recently completed a major home renovation project with Steven Allen Designs. From initial design through punch list completion, their performance was exeptional. Steven Allen Designs combines outstanding design with quality oriented construction contracting. The results greatly exceeded our expectations.

Steven worked with us on the design and build of a home in 2022 and 2023. He was excellent throughout the process. He worked within our budget and always had solutions to problems. He has a great eye for design and attention to detail. Most importantly, we trusted him throughout the process and would use him again.

I’ve worked with Stephen on multiple projects now. He is a pleasure. Stephen not only stands out in his trade of home design and building dreams, by being quite unique...... he also has great sensibility in the functionality of things. Stephen is a straight shooter and a cut above the rest. I whole heartedly recommend him, whether you’re building a home, renovating or buying one of his new constructions. Steven Allen Designs was very professional and kept within our budget. We had compared pricing prior to hiring this company and they were very reasonable. They were on track with the renovation and had a great planner app to keep us informed throughout the whole process. Design ideas were also creative and original.

Steven Allen Designs worked with us beginning October 2018 in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and the subsequent flooding which devastated our home. Owner Stephen Heiman eased us through the trauma of starting over and into the multiple decisions necessary in rebuilding/remodeling. Stephen's professionalism, honesty and creativity enabled us to design & build the home we never would have expected to aspire to. We valued Stephen's design input, cost transparency, accessibility and timeliness. His online portal for our project allowed us to view at will recommended vendors, photos, all communication between builder & client, scheduling, updated expenditures & upcoming budget items.
We were thrilled with the end result and highly recommend Steven Allen Designs.

I am purchasing a home in Steven Allen’s Nouveau Bungalow series. Never have I encountered a builder with such attention to detail and quality. He is an artist and His properties truly reflect it. . He cuts no corners , is transparent about every detail of the construction process and he is easy to communicate with. All of his properties are unique. These are not cookie cutter homes. He uses leading edge, technologically advanced, energy efficient materials from the roof to the hvac system to the drainage systems. I’m so glad to have happened upon his listing in HAR. I’m totally obsessed with my new home.

We worked with Steven Allen Designs on a recent remodel and addition to our home and could not be more thrilled with the results. We added a second floor to our home, and re-imagined a large chunk of the downstairs in the process. Stephen's design for the space was both creative and practical. He went well beyond what we had hoped for our home, and brought an incredible level of beauty and customization. His ideas for material selections, space configurations, and small touches and details throughout resulted in a home more beautiful than we could have imagined.
While the finished product is absolutely stunning, our favorite part may actually have been the process itself. The transparency Stephen offered was incredible. Finances, scopes, and timelines were communicated with an incredible level of detail, clarity, and precision, all in a customer-friendly portal. Weekly in-person meetings allowed for frequent check-ins, and outside of those times, Stephen and his team were always super responsive.
We've done several other large-scale renovations in the past and this was our favorite project by far, due entirely to working with Steven Allen Designs. We couldn't recommend them more highly.

Our home was flooded in Harvey, we contacted Steven Allen Design, and they went into action to start the cleaning up process and then rebuilding of our home. They used quality trades, and we worked together to not only rebuild our home, but make it even better! They did not take short cuts, they made sure all was up to code. We had weekly update meetings so that we knew what was going to be scheduled and when.

We love working with Stephen and have done numerous projects with him. He is talented, knowledgeable, and very easy to work with. He does what he says when he says it. We would highly recommend him for your next project.

I would recommend staying away from this firm. My wife and I communicated a firm budget to them. They said that the scale of our renovation was doable within that budget, then they took us to two other properties that were also within that budget.
So, we signed an commitment agreement for around 8 or 10k. We paid half up front. They proceeded to give us 3 bids, all above our price range -- one was double our budget! When we said that we weren't going to be able to proceed at those numbers, they kept all the money, refusing to refund any of it but $300.

We are sorry for any misunderstandings or expectations that were not met. Please refrain from attempting to trash our name with FALSE statements as our families rely on our reputation and income that this company provides. Pertaining to your situation your design/service contract was in the amount of $4,768.87 and the amount of $2,384.44 was paid to start services for presentations and estimates. Design Services of $1,650 was charged to Measure and create architectural floor plans and exterior elevations for your existing structure and (3) concept architectural floor plans and exterior elevations for 3 different concepts which ranged from desired Budget to High End Remodel/Addition. $400 was charged to develop (3) sets of Estimates, takes offs and presentation packets. Resulting in a $334.44 refund which technically was not required to be refunded but we did to show good faith. At this rate this is very below market and it would be rare if any one else would have charged you this fair of a price with a 5 day turn around during the hustle and bustle of the Christmas holidays. It is very challenging to determine an accurate budget on a large home remodel/addition with out plans and measurements and that is why plans are needed to determine accurate scope of work.
It is common that peoples eyes are bigger than their budgets. We understand this type of work is more expensive than most people think. Sorry for any misunderstandings and if there is a time you would like to meet and discuss we are open. Thank You.
