We are building a mountain modern custom home, in the Colorado high country. We had real trouble finding a good hood and were referred to Raw Urth by a cabinet maker. They were a joy to work with and the finished product is outstanding.

Raw Urth was magnificent to work with! They walked me through every step and answered every question I had with detail and clarity. So seamless. When there was a shipping problem that wasn’t their fault, they jumped in to make everything right and even sent me a pie for the delay. My hood is by far the thing that gets the most comments in my kitchen, even the cabinet company complimented how good it looks. It’s the highlight of the room and I absolutely love it! We worked with a lot of vendors during our new home build and you never know what kind of support you get from businesses until there are issues. There were no issues working with Raw Urth (their process is seamless from start to finish), but the hood looked different in our space than what I had envisioned. The hood was perfectly crafted and the patina matched the patina we selected, but I had envisioned it to be more colorful and mottled. Really have nothing but great things to say about Raw Urth. They worked with us on the centerpieces for our new kitchen; a hood and a surround for the island. My Raw Urth hood exceeded my expectations. Katie, Payton, Bailey, and Tony were easy to work with. I was able to call them directly any time during regular working hours. They were all pleasant, professional, and prompt in providing information, and regardless of with whom I spoke, they were familiar with my project. I did not use a contractor for my kitchen remodel and so was nervous about ordering and purchasing a custom-made product, sight unseen. My worries were 100% unfounded. The photos posted on Raw Urth's website accurately depict the appearance and design of the hood. The samples they provided from which I selected materials were spot on. Except for dimension, I copied a hood they had posted on their website. They accomplished my request perfectly. In addition, I used a professional installation company here in Colorado Springs (CMR) to install. They regularly install hoods of similar design but commented repeatedly on the superiority of materials and fabrication of Raw Urth's hood. (They were also surprised by the weight. Despite the weight Raw Urth provided, their experience with other fabricators caused them to misjudge the substance of this hood.) Yes, the hood was pricey. But it was worth every penny. I highly recommend this locally owned, made in America (made in Colorado, specifically) product.

What a statement piece in our kitchen! Our hood is not only beautiful but really makes a statement from the moment you walk in the door. What surprised us the most was how straight forward it was to install. We are fairly handy but were intimidated at the beginning. We found a few really useful tips which made it easy! Mark the studs on the wall and the back bracket of the hood (but on the inside) so once you lift in place and level, you just line up and attach. We also mounted a 2x4 on the wall into studs just a 1/2 inch below where the bottom of the hood would be. This allowed us to brace the bottom edge against the wall and put in spacers to level and adjust the height perfectly. Took two people to lift in place and one to level and attach. Much easier than we thought! Josie at Raw Urth great to work with and helpful refining our design, she also was very responsive to all questions and the final product is amazing! They even did a backsplash piece that matched the patina of the hood which turned out great! Overall, we would highly recommend Raw Urth!

We chose Raw Urth to make a range hood of equal quality to the new Rutt cabinets for our kitchen remodel, and couldn't be happier. The hood is gorgeous, the lighting and ventilation are excellent, and their process was easy, clear, and precise - even shipping to North Carolina! (Sorry - my photo doesn't do it justice!)

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. We could've gone with some plain old cookie cutter vent hood from Lowes, but we were building our dream kitchen and only the best would do. I'd heard from several contractors that Raw Urth was the place to go and they were right. The custom vent hood they designed for us is absolutely spectacular. It far exceeded all our expectations. The owner and staff are fantastic, as well. So easy to work with. They took the time to listen to our ideas and came up with a design that fit our space perfectly. Highly recommend.

As our kitchen remodel has come to completion, our custom vent hood from Raw Urth Designs is truly a gorgeous focal point. The remodel started with the need to provide improved venting for our 6 burner range top. We wanted something both highly functional AND beautiful. Raw Urth has amazing staff to help guide the decisions of design and products. It was so valuable for Katie, the designer, and Amy, the owner, to weigh in with their opinions of selecting the perfect finishes to make our hood stunning. They guided our decisions in our transitional kitchen to include the black steel to compliment the black cabinets on the island and contrasting straps on the hood to tie in the island hardware and warmth of the copper kitchen table. We selected a Vent-A-Hood insert, worked with our cabinet maker and Raw Urth's engineer to ensure the fit would be perfect- both within the hood and within the cabinet crown molding. We are beyond delighted with the workmanship, functionality, and beauty of our vent hood. We highly recommend working with Raw Urth!

I wish I could invoke the same artistry in words that the team at Raw Urth deployed in crafting my hood: therefore, this review will not come close in giving justice to what is now in my kitchen. Words like "awesome" and "splendid" seem overused these days, so they seem like weak descriptions. As you can see by my picture below, we are still under renovations; I was just too eager to wait to issue this review--just in case someone was on the fence about ordering a custom, one-of-a-kind hood over the holidays. When our friends come over, no one utters a word about the (much more) expensive appliances or the (even much more!) expensive cabinets. All they do is stare in wonder at the hood. It is a Montrose-style "Reclaimed" finish. But you couldn't possibly go wrong with any of their brilliant styles. Moreover, their customer service is unparalleled. We had to expose a beam near the hood and could not come close to matching the original stain. Payton and her team crafted matching "Reclaimed" steel plates to cover that beam and it is beautiful. All for free...!! And they even sent marine glue to fasten it...!!! And when I decided to forgo Raw Urth's option price to have their professionals install the hood (don't do this, btw) my third-party installers scratched the hood in two places. Raw Urth shipped touch-up materials and instructions to repair...!! These guys are beyond classy. Do not hesitate. BUY A HOOD FROM RAW URTH without any reservation...!!

First let me start by saying the process from A to Z was flawless! I had my reservations about ordering a custom range hood that would be almost $9k, 6ft tall by 4ft wide sight unseen. But let me tell you it was worth every penny and is the centerpiece of our new kitchen. After relaying my vision with a few inspirational pictures via email the process moved quickly and efficiently. I received a well thought out packet of finish samples that I had chosen. After making a few tweaks to that I received CAD drawings to verify the sizing and placement of the hood. I cannot stress the importance of making sure the placement of the ducting for the ventilation is properly aligned and blocking is also properly placed to secure the hood too. The hood because of it's size and material weighed a significant amount and my husband took great care to make sure it was going to install with ease. Kayla and Julie provided me with regular updates in regards to what "stage" our hood was in and even a few sneak peeks! The hood shipped on time and arrived damage free. I might also note the care with which they packaged the hood was unbelievable. It was in a large wooden crate with tilt & shock meters to indicate if the trucking company had handled it roughly. Words alone simply do not express how beautiful the hood is in person and the joy it brings me every time I look at it. It is also worth saying we have had 2 friends try to duplicate the look but went with a cheaper option and it just simply isn't the same at all (they know it too). I highly-highly recommend using Raw Urth Designs for creating a stunning custom range hood!

What started as an email sent to a company across the country that I had never heard of, but only had seen beautiful photos of their work online, quickly turned into the easiest decision made in my complete kitchen remodel. From the onset, Raw Urth provided a superior level of customer service. My initial contact was Liz, later Terrah, Kayla, and Tony, All were exceptional. The design process on their end could not have been any easier (once the hood was chosen my builder just had to provide some basic details/measurements), the most difficult part was figuring out how to open the crate once the hood was delivered and I warn you that the crate is probably built better than most homes! Having the actual metal sample for the hood was priceless and allowed me to really build the entire kitchen around the hood finish in terms of coordinating and complimenting it with other textures/finishes in the stone, light fixtures, cabinets and knobs/pulls. The end result is my dream kitchen and I am thrilled to have stumbled across raw urth as my hood is the icing on the perverbal cake!

Very talented group of metal workers! I was able to tour the Raw Urth shop back in 2018 before placing our order. What an amazing, shop with the latest and greatest metal working equipment. Our cabinet shop purchased a metal hood for a kitchen and metal island top for an adjoining pool house for a project in Michigan. Shipping was not a problem with the way they build their crates. Raw Urth delivered on time, on budget and most importantly exceeded the clients expectations!

I discovered Raw Urth a couple of years ago by scouring thousands of photos on Houzz. At that time, I was in the early stages of designing our new home (3 year project). For my kitchen remodel I knew I wanted a special hood. After tons of online searching, I came across Raw Urth. Their hoods were simply the most beautiful I'd seen. Wow! The entire experience was flawless! We were looking for a particular "look" for our new to us home and had found a few that came close but from the first time we looked at the Raw Urth website we felt pretty sure these would be the folks that would be able to take our vision to the wall. Every email was responded to quickly and every call was taken courteously. Once it got time to actually order, we had some trepidation as this was not going to be the most expensive part of the remodel but it was going to be a sizable purchase. The folks at Raw Urth made sure they did everything they could to make us comfortable-from descriptions to photos to samples, etc. Shipping was arranged with no hassle to us and when we took the lid off the crate we couldn't have been more pleased. It was absolutely exactly like we had hoped. Our contractor, who has built some much larger, more expensive projects than ours remarked that it was the most beautiful hood they had installed to date.

My construction project took on a life of its own. While this had its drawbacks the one thing it provided me was the opportunity to really think about my hood selection. I researched various companies and products across the US. I even visited a manufacturer in Texas to compare processes and finished products. After walking through the Raw Urth production area I had no doubt this was who I wanted to build my hood. (Would you rather have surgery in a back alley next to a dumpster, or in an operating room?) But, while the organization, cleanliness and thoughtfulness of production are important to ensure quality and timeliness it has little to do with the artistry involved in creating the hood I wanted. Raw Urth didn’t disappoint in this area either. The creative staff worked with me in determining both style and finish color to compliment my kitchen. I am most pleased with the outcome and highly recommend them if you are considering a custom piece for your project.

We built a home on CO and selected Raw Urth to design and build our stove hood. I have never worked with such an awesome team of customer oriented professionals in my life - it was so refreshing! Their attention to detail made this process stress free, measurements for our area were checked and rechecked to make sure there were no glitches! From my first call to Liz to the install everyone was professional and extremely detailed in everything it took to get my gorgeous hood done for us. ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS! Raw Urth did not disappoint! We took a chance in having Raw Urth design, build and deliver our custom made hood as we live in the Lake Norman area of Charlotte, NC and not in Colorado where they are located. Hiring our local artisan for metal hood fabrication would have been the easy decision to make, however there was SOMETHING about Raw Urth that drew us in, wanting to be a part of something "special". From our initial contact with Marta, her help with our color choices and walking us thru the entire process, to Tony designing our hood using our specific measurements, Brian's artistic touch in finishing with Antique Steel/Vintage Pewter and Kayla who ensured the secure shipment of our "Statement Piece" (LOVE the crates creative wording! The little details that Raw Urth presented such as actual finish samples wrapped in their own little Raw Urth bags to gloves for our installers to wear, we always felt that we were being taken care of and that our hood would be perfect. We could not be happier with our custom metal hood from Raw Urth Designs!! .....fondly called the "little Breck" by the fabricators there : ) Our home is in the mountains and we were determined to create a rustic custom look for our kitchen renovation. We decided to "splurge" on a few key items including the hood which we considered not only a functional but a potential "centerpiece". Doing our own internet search we fell on Raw Urth and are so glad we did! Turns out they were within a 45 minute drive from our home in Estes Park Colorado so we were lucky enough to be able to actually go there and check out the entire operation (via a personal tour from Liz!). From start to finish this was one of the best customer service experiences that we have ever had. One word describes Liz who coordinates it all....AWESOME! One word describes our hood....AWESOME!! In fact our cabinet installer said that we had the coolest hood in all of Estes Park!! We spent more than a year planning every detail of our kitchen remodel and addition with our designer. After looking at favorable hood reviews on Houzz and elsewhere we called Raw Urth first. From our first phone call with Liz, we knew immediately we had found the company we would work with for our kitchen. Through numerous telephone discussions and emails, Liz explained every detail. She outlined the process, and then everything proceeded perfectly and as described. Raw Urth recommends that the liner be sent to them for fitting around the insert. Since our insert was already at our home unboxed we decided to have Raw Ruth build using Miele’s specifications. The care and detail through this process illustrates their professionalism. Upon review of Miele's specs, they contacted Miele directly to gain further information about their published specifications. They ensured a perfect fit. With the design and measurements settled, it was time to choose a finish. There are so many beautiful selections that this became the most difficult aspect. Samples of our 2 favorite finishes were sent to us for approval and then sent back to Raw Urth to make sure our hood would be patinated exactly as our chosen sample. Once the hood was finished and ready to be shipped, we received information about shipping as you would expect. However, what we did not expect was the unbelievable level of care taken in the shipment process. The crate was framed with 2 by 4’s and once opened it was evident that the care taken in packaging and sealing our beautiful hood was unlike anything we had seen before. There were pressure and tilt sensors included as well. Our thanks to Liz and the team at Raw Urth. We love our steel Montrose hood in the Agate finish. It is the centerpiece of our kitchen. We just remodeled our kitchen and our kitchen designer suggested that we look into Raw Urth for a unique vent hood. We loved the look of the metal finishes. I was interested in a more traditional look and my husband was looking for a little more clean lined look. We decided on the Creede vent hood in the Rustic Iron finish. Raw Urth Design is the best! We purchased an Aspen Hood in brushed stainless steel with polished stainless straps and it came out stunning! Raw Urth is extremely professional, organized and they produce an unparalleled product. Their whole team is upbeat, personable and walk you through the order/shop drawing/fabrication/delivery process, step-by-step, with ease and clarity. Obviously, the hood is the 'main event' but everything you receive from Raw Urth is considered and thoughtfully presented (worksheets, hand written notes, wrapped material samples, a custom crate, etc.). I wish their were more range hoods in my life so I could work with Raw Urth more often. They are the best!

RawUrth made a custom acid-washed steel Montrose for the kitchen remodel in our 1930s Spanish Colonial in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The craftsmanship was exquisite and the customer service was second to none. Expensive but worth it. We highly recommend RawUrth.

It was easy for my contractor to install (except that it was very heavy) The company was up front and honest about the design process and the time it would take to complete. I worked with a designer who created several 3D drawings for me to help me understand how the hood would look in my space. It was very helpful. I would highly recommend this company. We commissioned Raw Urth to design and build us a steel fireplace to wrap over our existing brick fireplace. From the outset they have been fantastic to work with and a great partner. From initial idea generation to developing the visuals to final plans, Raw Urth were easy to work with and, importantly, added value to the design. They gave creative ideas to the project rather than just implementing what the client asked. There was regular communication and we were always informed as to progress. The final piece looks as good as, if not better, than expected They are a bespoke design and production company and there is a cost associated with this. However, to create a unique piece, it was worth it. I will point out that there was an error in the production meaning the fireplace arrived with a number of screw holes which were not in the plan. Ordinarily this would count against them but I must say they dealt with this admirably. They acknowledged the error immediately and took steps to address it. Within a couple of weeks, they had fabricated a new piece, shipped it out and flew out the owner to personally replace the incorrect piece and ensure all was in order. So a great experience overall, we are delighted with the fireplace and look forward to using it. A real center piece of the room. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them.
