LA Solar Group

I have been "working" with LA Solar since 2019. They installed my solar panels, roof, and powerwalls. I am writing this review in the hopes of preventing others from making the same mistake as me and using this company in any capacity. I have never worked with more a more inept, disorganized, careless, and poorly run company in my life. Every encounter is with a new crew that says the last crew didn't install something right. We have failed inspection more times than I can count. My second powerwall has taken over 1.5 years to install and get the inspection done. It is impossible to get a hold of anyone unless you pretend you are buying a new system. Few people speak English, and fewer have any idea of what they are doing. They show up without any notice to my door expecting us to be home. They have missed inspections with the city. I have had to get a real electrician to fix their mistakes. And, to top everything off, I just had one of my neighbors pull up to my house and start yelling at the LA Solar driver as he cut off his daughter on the road and was erratically driving and passing cars on a 25mph residential street, where countless kids play. I am embarrassed I ever worked with this company, and would strongly urge you to find ANYONE else to do your solar work. These people are just the worst. And I have done full house remodels, installed a pool, etc.

We received very positive recommendations from a friend who had installed solar panels using the services of LA Solar Group. We contacted them and received a proposal with excellent high power solar panels (17 LG 300W panels using microinverters). They designed a system for us based on our requirements, Upon review, we suggested some modifications regarding the placement of some of the panels. After reviewing our recommended modifications, they provided a new design. We liked the people that the company sent to install the solar panels as well as the upgrading of the electrical panel. They were professional and polite. The company is easy to work and responsive to phone calls and emails. LA Solar Group did everything from design, permits, installations and electrical work, and clean up. They worked with the city of Torrance and Edison for permits. Our system is operational and we are very happy with the level of energy it is producing. In 2018, we decided to increase the number of solar panels (we now have two electric cars and air conditioning) and contacted the same company. They installed additional panels. We have not had any problems with our solar system now entering the forth year.

After doing my research and narrowing down to a few local solar companies, I decided to go with LA Solar because of their professionalism and reasonable pricing. The whole process was smooth and efficient from getting city permits, to installation, and inspections. The staff was very patient in answering my questions and explaining the process along the way. They're also good about responding back to you right away. I would definitely recommend LA Solar.

I am still very pleased with the installation services and support of the system installed-more than a year after installation. A very professional crew that worked hard on a hot roof and did excellent quality work. They came in trucks that had everything they needed including their own restroom facilities so they never requested to come into our home. The team worked very well with each other and they also made sure that it was being installed to my satisfaction. I am very pleased that power generation has exceeded performance expectations for the first year of production. A very solid company that I recommend highly.

Great Solar Energy Company that came in at a great price and found ways to save money by using existing electrical panel – no up-charges or gimmicks. Antoinette May Brooks kept me informed and tracked my account, all along the way. It did take a bit of time to for them to coordinate with LA City and LA DWP, but staff was professional and addressed issues in a timely manner.

12.05 KW System I cant say enough about LA SOLAR GROUP!!! From my first phone call with Antoinette my solar agent was a great experience. Ive been looking into Solar for the past 2 years and received quotes from Solar City and Sungevity and Sunpower and LA SOLAR cut the price in HALF!!! The one thing I noticed from the other company's that I received quotes is the knowledge of the sales agent. They had panels all over my house that would have been worthless and not a good return on my investment. The first thing I noticed working with Antoinette at LA SOLAR was the knowledge she had with the product they installed and was always looking for saving for me. Solar is supposed to be an investment that will have a relationship for a long time and also bring back a nice return. So we all know the sales agents and staff are outstanding with LA SOLAR with excellent customer service and making sure the client is always happy and comfortable with the transaction, even down to the financing process. When it came to the installation the experience was just like the sale, superb! The team showed up on time and Jeff the foreman went through the entire process with me and was very helpful. I cant say enough about LA SOLAR but if you do not get a quote from LA SOLAR then you have not done your homework!!!!

Pros: Fast. Hard Working. System working great so far. Delivered as promised. Customer oriented. Reasonable price. Manager on top of things. My sales agent was friendly. Cons: Because they have so much business and are growing so fast, scheduling and notification of when they're coming on site may be miscommunicated sometimes.

I was tired of getting $200 electric bills in the summer in Los Angeles due to my air conditioning. So, I decided to go solar. I checked out a few companies but they either had mixed reviews or kept calling with sales pressure. I found LA Solar on the Internet. It had many good reviews over a long period of time. This sounded legitimate. They came out and gave me an estimate of about $18,000. I decided to go forward. It was supposed to be finished in 1.5 months but it too closer to 3 months. The price went up a few thousand dollars because I have a metal roof and and part of the roof had to be re-roofed to accommodate the solar panels. But LA Solar cut the revised estimate by $500 by cutting their profit. So, I paid more than the original estimate but they reduced their profit. This was OK since we couldn't put solar panels on a metal roof. The work was finally finished in December 2015. It took so long due to many city inspections. But at least on one occasion, the company didn't show up when the inspector came. This caused a delay. It was supposed to go live around Christmas time but it didn't work. The problem was eventually found to be a defective part. After that was replaced a few days later, the system went live and everything has worked since then. I use an average of 23 kWH per day in my house (I have electric and plug-in hybrid cars). On a sunny day in the spring, I generate 33 kWH from the solar panels. My last few electric bills have been $10 per month (transmission charges). Plus, I will get credit for the excess power that I generate. I am in the black by a cumulative 600 kWH over the last few months! I can't wait to see how much I generate this summer. I feel like the electric company. I am grandfathered in for net metering for the next 20 years. I think you have to contract for solar panels no later than Dec. 2017 to be grandfathered for 20 years in California. I calculated the internal rate of return on my solar panel investment using my cost of about $22,000 and estimated savings for the next 20 years. It is 13% per year! I can't get that in the stock market. Plus, I will always use electricity, so it is a safe investment, assuming my panels work efficiently for the next 20 years. I claimed a 30% federal tax credit on my income tax. Too bad Southern California Edison ran out of rebate money. I highly recommend LA Solar. Except for a few minor glitches, they did a good job, never gave me sales pressure, and were very nice to me on the phone.
