Native Oregonian, Bassist College grad and textile expert, John Thompson teaches at PCC and educates clients in quality products and good taste. With residential and commercial projects in PNW, Reno and Palm Desert, clients range from first-time home buyers to executives. A former showroom manager, JTD has relationships you need as he combines vision and project management. Local tradesman, custom furniture builders, seamstresses and painters are invisibly supervised during each step of what can be an otherwise error-prone process. John has a wealth of knowledge and experience in design with an exceptional mental data bank in fabrics. He has been collaborative and patient with me at every stage of the 3 projects thus far. He has helped me bring my vision and inspiration into a reality far superior to what I thought possible. John was very friendly, knowledgeable, and excellent with communications. He never once missed an appointment and was always very considerate of my time. We had a collaborative and enjoyable working relationship on a moderate sized project. John assisted me with the selection of many fabrics for the reupholstering of several living room pieces and he also designed a beautiful sofa for my den/library. He gave me the transitional look I was seeking for my high-rise condo, and at the same time he introduced me to new designs and patterns that I would not have thought of on my own. I wholeheartedly recommend John for any and all design projects. He made the whole experience 'fun'.

I loved working with John. We hired him as the design consultant for our new condo in the Pearl. John immediately understood our aesthetic, and collaborated with us throughout the process, including a couple of beautiful custom pieces, a wonderful piece of art for our entryway, and colorful custom pillows. John has a great eye for fabric, color and texture, and is well connected in the industry. And he’s so easy to work with – efficient and organized, a great listener, and so congenial. The result is striking yet comfortable, and we get so many compliments from family and friends. One thing that really impressed me in working with John is his ability to meet his clients where they are. Whether you want him to design the entire project, or simply provide consultation, John will be able to accommodate your needs. Looking forward to working with him again!

We called John in a pinch. He was extremely responsive and worked hard to help us solve our design and painting issues in a condo we had just purchased. He also connected us with a cabinet maker, who came over right away. John's a lovely person, as well as knowledgeable, creative and resourceful. He listened to our needs and didn't try to push anything on us. We'd certainly use him again!

What I appreciate most about John is that he works with clients depending on their specific needs without imposing his aesthetic on the project. He will help clients find their own aesthetic, so every home interior is unique. He will design an entire project or just consult when needed. I like to be more involved in my projects, and John is a great person to consult with when I have a question. One of his many strengths is his ability to collaborate with his clients. I have worked with John for over ten years and he is easy to work with.

We hired John Thompson as our designer for a condo renovation in an older historic building. At the time we lived out of state and had a limited budget. John was tremendous to work with. He understood our style sense, was responsive to our feedback, and worked tirelessly to get the project completed on time. Once we moved in, he ensured that the last pieces of the renovation were completed. We highly recommend John and plan to use him again for future projects.

We hired John to help us reupholster a large sectional, pillow design and creation as well as helping us with overall color choices and arrangement of our living space. John provided us with many options for the fabrics and led us through the process of deciding what was best for us. He was enthusiastic, thoughtful to our desires and very professional in his work. He led us to a great upholsterer who did a fantastic job on our sectional. We love it. The colors are amazing and everything is so refreshing. The pillows add a wonderful touch and were so well done. We've gotten some amazing compliments and truly can't be any happier. Thank you John!!

We were very fortunate to have John work for us part time at the Consignment Gallery for several years. He was a joy to work with and his decorating skills were amazing. Decorating in our shop was always a challenge because we had to integrate what items happen be to in the shop each week. John was always up for the challenge! I would highly recommend him.

Working with John has been a wonderful experience. I really felt like he listened to me and his design ideas proved that. I had a great experience from beginning to end. He was very receptive to my ideas throughout the process and I always felt that he carefully considered my ideas and gave me honest feedback and lots of encouragement. I had no idea what my style was at the beginning, but by the end of the process, I had confidence in my own ideas as well as an emerging awareness of my own style. It was Johns willingness to listen and guide me when needed that made it possible for me to learn and develop my ability to understand the whole design and create process. I highly recommend John to anyone seeking to design or redesign their home or business.
