"Social Purpose in architecture has led to our approach, arguably mainly intuitive, our practice has become what it is today- a studio where our ambition is to create humane, intimate, and exciting spaces that will create a sense of repose and well-being. We seek to achieve this by an intense discussion of materials, details and sustainability at a very beginning of the design process.” John Rich John established the practice over 30 years ago after a highly regarded career within the GLC Department of Architecture. A passion for west London and establishing his family home in Kew meant he understood the mutually inclusive relationship between the demands of contemporary family living within architecturally protected areas through responsive design. The Practice: John was trained at Brixton School of Building and the Architectural Association School. Before establishing John Rich Architects he was a Section Architect in the GLC Department of Architecture Housing Division and later in the ILEA Education Division. The practice specialises in the private residential and Education sectors. Our portfolio contains a mix of modernist new build and remodelling and refurbishment projects, frequently of listed buildings, both educational and residential. The practice places great emphasis on detailing and the delivery of completed buildings of architectural integrity.

It was a pleasure working with John Rich and his team. We would do it again! I really valued the direct pragmatic honest advice. He played a key role in ensuring the project continued smoothly. He found and recommended great builders. My work was finished on time and within budget despite hiccups. I valued not only the usual architect work around planning and design, but throughout the project to keep work on track. Working with the kitchen team and builders and keep them coordinated meant less stress for us. We are very pleased with the house!! Thank you John and team

I have used John Rich Architects on a number of projects over many years and have found them to be efficient, attentive, knowledgeable and to have a strong and successful relationship with Richmond planning and Listed buildings officers. A notable recent project was to obtain planning permission and Listed building consent for the complete renovation of a Georgian grade 11* Listed house to create a 4 bedroom family home in Sion Rd Twickenham

John did a fantastic job for us, turning our Victorian two up two down into a four bed family house over three floors. He held our hands throughout the two stage process and was a pleasure to work with. We engaged JRA from initial design through the planning stage and then John also managed the build itself. JRA has made the best use of space we could imagine and all visitors to the house comment on the high quality of the job.

We have used John Rich Architects for the interior and exterior remodelling of our previous property and our current house. Their attention to detail is exemplary from the initial consultations through to design detailing, specifications and project management. We always felt we were in good hands throughout the process. The remodelling and transformation of the living space and the exterior features was undertaken with ingenuity and creativity while maintaining a high level of sympathy for the vernacular.

I engaged this company to design and assist in obtaining planning permission for the conversion of two 1930s office floors into six modern high-end apartments. The company then selected an excellent builder to carry out the job and project managed it from beginning to end. They are a very friendly team and did an excellent job in terms of budget management, contractor supervision and design.. I am a very satisfied client and would certainly use them again.
