On a very narrow plot, Heath Walker designed a very elegant extension to our house which incorporated a new home office, accessible shower room and side entrance providing wheelchair access. The design makes clever use of the space and brings light in from all angles, making the most of the exposed bricks. We also love the exposed Douglas fir roof beams which were carefully set out by the architects to give a crisp, modern look. Jeremy & Jane were very easy to work with; they really took on board what we asked for and asked us some important questions. They were great at negotiating with the planners and produced really detailed drawings for the builder. With their support we got a great result which we enjoy every day.

I wouldn't have been able to do this project and complete it without HeathWalker Studio. Their invaluable knowledge and skills brought me more confidence to do this project. From the beginning they were open minded and explained all the possible options. They were very supportive and helped me make the right choices. We wanted to extend our Grade 2 listed 16th Century timber framed house in Norfolk. It had bags of character but was rather dark and cramped. We needed considerably more space including an accessible double bedroom, additional living space, a shower room and a study large enough to work from home. We wanted to enhance the character of the property, yet make awkward spaces more useable and create a more comfortable layout for family occupation. We also hoped to bring in much more light, and create a view of our beautiful garden, whilst retaining as much of the outdoor space as possible. Jeremy's solution was inspiring and innovative, yet in keeping with the original house. He proposed building an almost identically shaped new house, adjoining the old one, with a modern glazed timber frame at one end to form a fabulous, double height garden room. A new gallery and a spiral timber stair connected the old house with the new to enable ease of movement through all the spaces. After making a carefully prepared case, Jeremy convinced the conservation officer that his vision and design was right for our house, and the planning application went very smoothly. From the beginning, we wanted an eco-friendly house and decided to built it ourselves, using timber l-beams, sheep's wool insulation and lime render. Jeremy's knowledge and experience of sustainable design was of real value. The result was a beautiful, light and characterful home which functions comfortably year-round.

Jeremy Walker's design for my kitchen extension made clever use of every bit of space and was simple and economical. The finished kitchen is spacious and full of light and we love its welcoming feeling and the way it connects to the garden. Jeremy obvious professionalism is matched by his expertise, attention to detail, excellent attitude and rigorous approach to deadlines.
