On a personal note I have been working in the industry for more than 30 years. When I was in my late teens I would help my dad who is a master craftsman, deliver and install joinery for residential and retail clients. It wasn't until I was in my late twenty's that I started working in design and on the manufacturing side, where I learnt how the cabinetry was put together and how truly spaces worked.
Design is important but it helps to know that what is being designed works in the space and for you the client.
