John and his team designed and built our vacation home at Smith Mountain Lake. As this was our first time designing a home from scratch, john offered many helpful recommendations based on his experience and time that he lived at SML. He also incorporated many custom personal touches to make our home just like we wanted it. During the design phase, his computer 3D modeling skills enabled us to do many "what ifs" without the time and expense of change orders. During the construction phase we received constant updates and the communication was always flowing. As we were doing this from out of town, John made us feel comfortable that the house was being done right - and it was. To this day, John and his team continue to provide follow up customer service as they are just a phone call away and ready to provide any assistance as needed. Remodeling and adding an addition to our home at Smith Mountain Lake was a fabulous experience thanks to our builder, John Brock of Brockworks Inc. He brings proffesionalism, talent, insight, and a real desire to please his client to each of his projects. His reputation in the area is highly regarded by his employees, associates, merchants, and most importantly, his clients. He met and exceeded our expectations at every level. I showed John pictures of ideas I had collected for features on the outside and for the new kitchen in our home. Every detail was seen to, from adding extra trim around the windows, to making an extra effort to locate and find the quartz countertop that was several months on back order. He even designed a special dormer window that was just what the front needed to change the old drab look to one with architectural interest and appeal. There were no disappointments because John really listened to our requests and things were done right the first time. The Brockworks team demonstrated impecable craftmanship and turned our old, shabby outdated house into our dream retreat. The whole process was efficient, pleasant, finished in a timely manner, and we couldn't have been more pleased with the results.

We hired John to do a major home renovation/addition. From conception to the finished project, Mr. Brock was creative, listened to our concerns, and helped us visualize our retirement dream. We could not be happier with the way our home has turned out. Where we had only a circular driveway, Mr. Brock added, a large stone front porch, an oversized double garage, and above that, a bedroom, bathroom, living room, with additional storage/media shelves handcrafted with his own hands. Behind our media center is roomy storage (something that was quite lacking in our 'before' home). In addition, he added a large and beautiful mudroom, coat closet, and another half bath. In the main part of the house, he re-positioned a fireplace and added deep shelves. Our old kitchen was reconfigured, remodeled and new picture windows were installed to take in the expansive views of our lakefront property. John was always on time, within budget, and his workers were always professional. The old house and new addition blend seamlessly. No one would have ever known that the house was added onto unless we told them. John was not only our builder, but became a good friend along with his wife.
