Kitchen renovation replacing the sloped floor 1970's kitchen addition into a designer showcase kitchen matching the aesthetics of this regal vintage Victorian home. Thoughtful design including a baker's hutch, glamourous bar, integrated cat door to basement litter box, Italian range, stunning Lincoln marble, and tumbled marble floor.

CLIENT GOALS Nearly every room of this lovely Noe Valley home had been thoughtfully expanded and remodeled through its 120 years, short of the kitchen. Through this kitchen remodel, our clients wanted to remove the barrier between the kitchen and the family room and increase usability and storage for their growing family. DESIGN SOLUTION The kitchen design included modification to a load-bearing wall, which allowed for the seamless integration of the family room into the kitchen and the addition of seating at the peninsula. The kitchen layout changed considerably by incorporating the classic “triangle” (sink, range, and refrigerator), allowing for more efficient use of space. The unique and wonderful use of color in this kitchen makes it a classic – form, and function that will be fashionable for generations to come.

The clients of this kitchen were well prepared by having put together a picture board which proved useful in designing a kitchen that fitted in with their tastes in design and finishes. The stainless steel benches were perfect for a busy cook, and the easy to clean surfaces worked well with food preparation. Though the principal colour was white, this was set off with the colours used for the floor to ceiling cabinetry as well the warm timber colours.

Doors/Drawers: Tesrol 600 series door & Fluted Panels, custom Rosettes, Corbels all with a Heritage Hand Paint finish. Capping Mould: Tesrol Country capping mould finished in Heritage Hand Paint to match cabinets. Splashbacks: Subway Tile with Pressed Metal in Powder Coated finish behind stove only. Handles: Antique Knobs to doors & Antique Handles to all drawers & pull outs. Kickboards: Recessed Matching Hand Painted kickboard with Island sides & back Featuring Capping Mould proud of kick face & panels above. We updated this century-old iconic Edwardian San Francisco home to meet the homeowners' modern-day requirements while still retaining the original charm and architecture. The color palette was earthy and warm to play nicely with the warm wood tones found in the original wood floors, trim, doors and casework.

A beautiful walnut kitchen designed by Mick De Giulio, leaded glass windows replicated by borrowing on designs from the George Maher archive.
