This project consisted of a renovation and alteration of a Queen Anne home designed and built in 1897 by Manhattan Architect, and former Weehawken mayor, Emile W. Grauert. While most of the windows were Integrity® Wood-Ultrex® replacement windows in the original openings, there were a few opportunities for enlargement and modernization. The original punched openings at the curved parlor were replaced with new, enlarged wood patio doors from Integrity. In the mayor's office, the original upper sashes of the stained glass was retained and new Integrity Casement Windows were installed inside for improved thermal and weather performance. Also, a new sliding glass unit and transom were installed to create a seamless interior to exterior transition between the kitchen and new deck at the rear of the property. Finally, clad sliding patio doors and gliding windows transformed a previously dark basement into an airy entertainment space.

Mirrored furniture used to reflect light in a dark space as well as create a look of elegance. The ceiling rose, chandelier, mirror and console are all round/curvy which creates a sense of balance.

By refinishing the main Oak floors and Fir staircases with a Waterbase Finish, we breathed new life into this historical property whilst retaining the warmth and appeal of the original design all the while ensuring durability for many more years to come.

Developer George Kevo collaborated with Creative Edge Master Shop, Inc., and Aalto Design to design and fabricate floors for a French chateau masterpiece home. A project of this nature requires meticulous care and excellent craftsmanship. Both developer George Kevo and Harri Aalto, President of Aalto Design, have discerning eyes and discriminating tastes. Working together, Harri Aalto was able to interpret and add his design style to George's idea. Their collaboration yielded floors containing over 20 colors and over 2,200 ft. of stunning artistry. Some of the stones used in this project were Crema Marfil, Emperador Dark, Jerusalem Gold, Indus Gold, Quetzel Green and French Vanilla. Design and colors were carefully chosen following the developer's interior decorations. After a month of designing and programming, Creative Edge Master Shop, iNc. fabricated and shipped over 40,000 pieces of preassembled stone flooring for installation.
