A mix of Dura Supreme custom cabinets, including this beautiful blue which is part of their custom paint program. The dishwasher and refrigerator have custom panels. The white bead board on the wall and ceiling enhance the bungalow's charm.

The client requested a kitchen that would not only provide a great space to cook and enjoy family meals but one that would fit in with her unique design sense. An avid collector of contemporary art, she wanted something unexpected in her 100-year-old home in both color and finishes but still providing a great layout with improved lighting, storage, and superior cooking abilities. The existing kitchen was in a closed off space trapped between the family room and the living. If you were in the kitchen, you were isolated from the rest of the house. Making the kitchen an integrated part of the home was a paramount request. Step one, remove the wall separating the kitchen from the other rooms in the home which allowed the new kitchen to become an integrated space instead of an isolation room for the cook. Next, we relocated the pantry access which was in the family room to the kitchen integrating a poorly used recess which had become a catch all area which did not provide any usable space for storage or working area. To add valuable function in the kitchen we began by capturing unused "cubbies", adding a walk-in pantry from the kitchen, increasing the storage lost to un-needed drop ceilings and bring light and design to the space with a new large awning window, improved lighting, and combining interesting finishes and colors to reflect the artistic attitude of the client. A bathroom located above the kitchen had been leaking into the plaster ceiling for several years. That along with knob and tube wiring, rotted beams and a brick wall from the back of the fireplace in the adjacent living room all needed to be brought to code. The walls, ceiling and floors in this 100+ year old home were completely out of level and the room’s foot print could not be increased. The choice of a Sub-Zero wolf product is a standard in my kitchen designs. The quality of the product, its manufacturing and commitment to food preservation is the reason I specify Sub Zero Wolf. For the cook top, the integrated line of the contemporary cooktop and the signature red knobs against the navy blue of the cabinets added to the design vibe of the kitchen. The cooking performance and the large continuous grate on the cooktop makes it an obvious choice for a cook looking for a great cook top with professional results in a more streamlined profile. We selected a Sharp microwave drawer for the island, an XO wine refrigerator, Bosch dishwasher and Kitchen Aid double convection wall ovens to round out the appliance package. A recess created by the fireplace was outfitted with a cabinet which now holds small appliances within easy reach of my very petite client. Natural maple accents were used inside all the wall cabinets and repeated on the front of the hood and for the sliding door appliance cabinet and the floating shelves. This allows a brighter interior for the painted cabinets instead of the traditional same interior as exterior finish choice. The was an amazing transformation from the old to the new. The final touches are the honey bronze hardware from Top Knobs, Mitzi pendants from Hudson Valley Lighting group, a fabulous faucet from Brizo. To eliminate the old freestanding bottled water cooler, we specified a matching water filter faucet.

This classic 1920's brick colonial home needed a new kitchen and updated first floor bath. A small addition to the back of the home was all that was needed to create a fresh new updated space while maintaining the original charm and scale of the home.

One of the favorite spaces in the whole house is the kitchen. To give it the personal details that you want, combination of different materials is the key; in this case we mixed wood with a white color

From this angle the full kitchen can be seen. The U-shape layout ensures practicality with the fridge/freezer within easy reach of the range cooker and clear worktop space for food preparation.

In this gorgeous Carmel residence, the primary objective for the great room was to achieve a more luminous and airy ambiance by eliminating the prevalent brown tones and refinishing the floors to a natural shade. The kitchen underwent a stunning transformation, featuring white cabinets with stylish navy accents. The overly intricate hood was replaced with a striking two-tone metal hood, complemented by a marble backsplash that created an enchanting focal point. The two islands were redesigned to incorporate a new shape, offering ample seating to accommodate their large family. In the butler's pantry, floating wood shelves were installed to add visual interest, along with a beverage refrigerator. The kitchen nook was transformed into a cozy booth-like atmosphere, with an upholstered bench set against beautiful wainscoting as a backdrop. An oval table was introduced to add a touch of softness. To maintain a cohesive design throughout the home, the living room carried the blue and wood accents, incorporating them into the choice of fabrics, tiles, and shelving. This beautiful in-place kitchen remodel is a transformation from dated 90’s to timeless syle! Away are the oak cabinets and large paneled fluorescent ceiling lights and in its place is a functional, clean lined kitchen design with character. The existing oak flooring provides the perfect opportunity to pair warm and cool colors with edgy polished chrome fixtures and hardware which speaks to the client’s charm! We used the classic shaker style in Waypoint’s cherry slate stained cabinet giving the space an updated profile with classic stain. The refrigerator wall functions as an appliance station with the ability to tuck appliances and all things bulky in the appliance garages keeping the countertops free. By tucking the microwave into a reconfigured island, a kitchen hood provides the perfect focal point of the space paired with a beautiful gas range. A penny round blend of cool and warm tones is the perfect accent to the natural stone backsplash. The peninsula was extended to provide a space next to the sink for a trash/recycle cabinet and allows for a large, single basin granite sink. By switching the orientation of the island, the eating nook’s table now can extend into the space adding more seating without awkward flow and close proximity to the island. The smaller island houses the microwave and drawer cabinets allowing for a more functional space with countertop space. The stunning Cambria Britannica quartz countertops round out the design by creating visual movement with a classic nod to traditional style. This design is the perfect mix of edgy sass with traditional flair, and I know our client will be enjoying her dream kitchen for years to come!

This was a fascinating project for incredible clients. To optimize costs and timelines, our Montecito studio took the existing Craftsman style of the kitchen and transformed it into a more contemporary one. We reused the perimeter cabinets, repainted for a fresh look, and added new walnut cabinets for the island and the appliances wall. The solitary pendant for the kitchen island was the focal point of our design, leaving our clients with a beautiful and everlasting kitchen remodel. --- Project designed by Montecito interior designer Margarita Bravo. We breathed new life into this Hampton’s inspired kitchen with beautiful fresh materials in soft white and airy blue hues. We also redesigned the layout for optimal food prep, cooking and entertaining while keeping them separate from each other. By incorporating the nook area and removing the desk, we were able to give our client everything she ever wanted in a kitchen (see BEFORE pics). The lines and details of the custom hood and soft curved fretwork in the cabinetry create a sense of understated luxury and elegance. Oil rubbed bronze accents on the island legs, traditional lanterns and sconces, along with brushed nickel cabinet hardware complete the space. We also redesigned the fireplace and added built-ins to both sides for additional storage and unified, fresh new look.
