The two single ovens installed side by side ensure that the chef has comfortable ergonomic access to both. As opposed to one oven being a little too high and the other a little too low with a standard double oven.

We raised the "sunken" living room and opened walls to leave the kitchen open to natural light and the view of the backyard and the wildlife preserve beyond. The open concept plan provides an ideal space for entertaining. Photography by Ehlen Creative.

This kitchen was designed for entertaining. Guest gather around a large center island. An induction cooktop and retractable downdraft blend into the island when not in use. To break up the large number of cabinets, we chose a two-toned scheme. The base cabinets are painted black. The wall cabinets are a flat-panel bamboo, to add a more modern edge, stained in gray. Industrial-style appliances and faucet finish the look.

Greg Hadley Photography This charming 1900s home was purchased by the clients and within a year they contacted us to remodel the kitchen, add a powder room on the main level, and add a bathroom on the 2nd level. As they wanted to expand the kitchen with a small addition on the rear of the home, we worked with the city of Takoma Park’s Historic Review Board to make sure it fit with the historic structure.

Our clients for this Silicon Valley remodel wanted us to enlarge their existing kitchen by expanding into their adjacent dinette and family room area and address heat and glare issues caused by the afternoon sun at the rear of the residence. Our remodel eventually addressed almost all of the ground floor rooms. In addition we coordinated the addition of new windows throughout the house and “refreshed” the front entry and rear façade. We expanded the kitchen into the dinette area by creating an informal bar area to replace their existing dinette area. We increased indoor-outdoor flow by creating a wall of French doors and windows at the rear which included solar shading integrated into the rear wall by means of a system of interior wall panels defined by carefully laid out reveals. We created a dropped ceiling between the kitchen and the family room to define the bar counter area. A new, minimalist fireplace design replaced the existing brick fireplace. Wenge-colored cabinets and soft putty-colored walls in the dining/family room create a serene overall unity to the space. The pillowed backsplash tile adds a softness to the space. Lots of drawers allow quick access to items stored throughout the kitchen. The Rangetop base is deeper to accommodate the extra deep rangetop from Wolf. Note the rangetop face is nice and flush with the cabinetry.
