My client called me in for a "Design Perspective". She hated her floors and wanted my professional opinion. I questioned whether I should be brutally honest, and her response was "absolutely". Then truth be told, "your countertops bother me more than your floors". My client has a stunningly beautiful home and her countertops were not in "the same league". So the project scope expanded from new floors to include countertops, backsplash, plumbing fixtures and hardware. While we were at it, her overly froufrou corbels were updated along with dishwashers that "drove her crazy". Since there was plenty of "demo" in store, she elected to lower her breakfast bar to counter height at the same time to connect her nook more seamlessly with her kitchen. The process: at our first slab warehouse stop, within ten minutes, we uncovered the most beautiful slabs of Taj Mahal ever. No need to keep looking. The slabs had perfect coloration and veining. So different from any other slab of Taj Mahal, it really ought to have its own name. Countertop selection was easy as was the subway and Arabesque backsplash tile. Polished chrome, with its blend of warm and cool tones, was the obvious choice for her plumbing fixture and hardware finish. Finding the right floor tile was what proved to be most challenging, but my client was up to the task. Several weeks of shopping and numerous samples hauled home led us to the perfect limestone. Once her room was complete, better barstools were in order. Hancock and Moore with their huge assortment of leather colors and textures was our clear choice. The Ellie barstools selected embody the perfect blend of form and comfort. Her new limestone flooring extends into her Butler's pantry, pool bath, powder bath and sewing room, so wait, there is still more to do.

This was a kitchen remodel for a family that wanted a transitional style kitchen with plenty of storage and places for the kids to eat and/or do their schoolwork. We brought in some rustic elements such as the wood backsplash and shelves along with the wooden and metal stools. Stainless steel appliances, chrome electrical and plumbing fixtures in addition to the hardware were brought in for a modern touch. To add a classic look to the design, we included brown Shaker cabinets, granite countertops, subway tile backsplash and porcelain floors. We incorporated a built-in buffet area with a pantry on each side to address their storage needs as well as stools at the island, a small dining table and a bench in the eating area for the kids to sit at. A sophisticated kitchen is only matched by the decorative moldings and details used throughout this Manhattan Beach home. Marble look porcelain floor tile paired with white raised panel cabinetry and topped with a charcoal quartz soapstone adds richness to the open kitchen living space. Built in stainless steel appliances like a French door wine fridge and microwave drawer add function in style. The black and gold La Cornue adds a luxe touch, while a black farmhouse sink behind it blends beautifully. Built in appliance garages with electric offer hidden storage. Drop down chandeliers and black geometric bar pulls add sophistication to the overall look.

A modern interpretation of a traditional white kitchen gives this luxury home the style it deserves. The dark wood island contrasts beautifully with the perimeter of white cabinets. The kitchen island features a fold-down panel that reveals hidden power outlets providing convenience with a clean look. A stainless steel range and range hood are a focal point of this space. Tucked neatly off to the side is a butler’s pantry with coordinating cherry cabinetry. A combination of banquette seating under the bay window and stools at the island provides plenty of seating for family gatherings and entertaining.
