This home addition was intended to expand the home to provide the space needed for the growing new family. The existing kitchen was gutted, expanded and opened up to a family room and nook area. Custom inset cabinets were our preference; however cost was a significant concern. The owner researched multiple companies and standard product lines to save on her budget. After careful analysis, we discovered that it was just as cost effective to use the local custom cabinet maker we preferred. This allowed for more precise detailing and unique features. The goal of a classical farm house kitchen character updated with modern features was able to be obtained much to the home owner's delight. A family room was added to this home, opening up to a screen porch that takes advantage of a previously unused side yard. The much needed new rear entry provides the family a space for their laundry room and is now the primary entry point from the detached garage. Great care was taken to ensure that the home’s new detailing could have been built this way originally. The space however needed to have a modern function for a modern family. The homes existing exterior had aluminum siding and trim which concealed original millwork and shingles. When the nondescript materials were removed, it was discovered that the original was in poor condition. Careful attention was taken to replace and/or repair original materials wherever possible around the entire home, in order to create a seamless exterior character.

The old Kitchen had natural wood cabinets that extended to the ceiling and dark stone countertops. Kitchen remodel within the existing 12′ x 13′ footprint. By vaulting the ceilings, adding skylights and enlarging the window over the sink, we brought in more volume and light. These elements along with the new soft neutral color palette make the space feel much larger and lighter.

When our clients fell in love with a Walker Zanger countertop in Pearled Leather, all the other details began to fall into place. The kitchen features traditional cabinets in a stunning Farrow & Ball De Nimes Blue that is anything but ordinary. A touch of modern in the island light fixture and kitchen faucet elevates the space further, perfectly marrying the clients unique tastes with classic style. This transitional kitchen brings in clean lines, simple cabinets, warm earth tones accents, and lots of function. This kitchen has a small footprint and had very little storage space. Our clients wanted to add more space, somehow, get the most storage possible, make it feel bright and open, have a desk area, and somewhere that could function as a coffee area. By taking out the doorway into the dining room, we were able to extend the cabinetry into the dining room, giving them their desk area as well as storage and a nice area for guests! A custom appliance garage was made that allows you to have all the necessities right at your hands and gives you the ability to close it up and hide all of the appliances. Trash, spice, tray, and drawer pull outs were added for function, as well as 2 lazy susans, wine storage, and deep drawers for pots and pans. The homeowner fell in love with the matte white GE Cafe appliances with the brushed bronze accents, and quite frankly, so did we! Once we found those, we knew we wanted to incorporate that metal throughout the kitchen. New hardwood flooring was installed in the kitchen and finished to match the existing wood in the dining room. We brought the warmth up to eye level with open shelving stained to match. We love creating with our clients, and this kitchen was no exception! We are thrilled with how everything came together.

With a semi-galley kitchen, the objective was to maximize on storage while providing ample prep-space when hosting large parties. Working with a narrow layout, a custom island was designed to replicate a furniture piece, allowing for an open & airy look. The homeowners love for black & brass was used to contrast against the custom light grey cabinetry. Now, let the cooking begin!
