We really opened up and reorganized this kitchen to give the clients a more modern update and increased functionality and storage. The backsplash is a main focal point and the color palette is very sleek while being warm and inviting. Their family expanded, and so did their home! After nearly 30 years residing in the same home they raised their children, this wonderful couple made the decision to tear down the walls and create one great open kitchen family room and dining space, partially expanding 10 feet out into their backyard. The result: a beautiful open concept space geared towards family gatherings and entertaining. Some great rooms are really great! This one features a large taupe grey island with raised bar seating, Off white perimeter cabinets and sturdy utilitarian stools, hardware and light fixtures. The look is eclectic transitional. An intentional cornflower blue accent color is used for glass subway back splash tile, patio door, rugs, and accessories to connect and balance this expansive cheerful space where an active family of seven, occupy every square inch of space. This sensational kitchen was a once in a lifetime opportunity to create. The benchtops are a minimum 950mm high, with the incredible breakfast bar solid pewter top at 1050mm high. Packing in an incredible 40 cupboard fronts (sometimes concealing integrated appliances, including two fridge drawers and two separate Siemens dishwashers), there is no shortage of sensational storage in this beautiful space. Even the cabinet knobs and pulls are solid pewter and imported from England. The breakfast bar seats 12 comfortably and is both figuratively and literally the heart of this busy family home.

There are so many things that make this kitchen beautiful. The white inset cabinets with the aged bronze hardware and faucet, against the backdrop of the black trimmed windows makes a winning combination. The island is custom made from quarter sawn white oak.

The black hood acts as a perfect focal piece and is complemented by white quartz countertops and backsplash.

A North Albany family contacted us wanting to expand, update, and open up their Kitchen to the Family Room. The floor plan of this home actually had plenty of space but it wasn’t being well-utilized, with angled walls in the pantry and a corner kitchen and island layout. By removing the double-sided fireplace and built-in bookcases closing off the Family Room, removing the closed-off bar area, and re-imagining the awkward walk-in pantry and kitchen layout, our Designer, Sarah envisioned an expansive Kitchen footprint that connected all the key areas and significantly increased the amount of available storage and countertop space, making this Kitchen the perfect entertaining environment! Replacing the cherry cabinetry, black granite countertops, and dark hardwood floors with white shaker upper cabinets, dark green lower cabinets, light-colored hardwood flooing, and a new lighting design completely transformed the space from dark and compartmentalized, to bright and open. This Kitchen is full of brilliant custom pieces and organization cabinets, including a HIDDEN walk-in pantry (which is the family’s favorite)!

We expanded the kitchen into an L-shaped layout with a new, smaller island. Custom white shaker cabinets with glass inserts on upper cabinets (which are now ceiling height). All new stainless steel appliances (except the fridge which was repurposed). Industrial pendant lights over the island are supplemented by recessed overhead lights and under-cabinet lights. Expansive pantry/display closet built into the dining area. The microwave was moved to the island to save space and create a more streamlined cabinet span. The flooring is 5’ white oak planks. Backsplash throughout the entire kitchen, which ceramic subway in a herringbone layout. Separate cooktop and oven, the cooktop is gas and the oven is electric. White quartz countertop, matching the surround of the fireplace in the adjacent living room. The island has electrical outlets and a switch for the kitchen lights. Although the new island is about half the size of the original, additional seating has been added. The new L-shape with the peninsula creates a passthrough with seating for entertaining. This beautiful yet highly functional space was remodeled for a busy, active family. Flush ceiling beams joined two rooms, and the back wall was extended out six feet to create a new, open layout with areas for cooking, dining, and entertaining. The homeowner is a decorator with a vision for the new kitchen that leverages low-maintenance materials with modern, clean lines. Durable Quartz countertops and full-height slab backsplash sit atop white overlay cabinets around the perimeter, with angled shaker doors and matte brass hardware adding polish. There is a functional “working” island for cooking, storage, and an integrated microwave, as well as a second waterfall-edge island delineated for seating. A soft slate black was chosen for the bases of both islands to ground the center of the space and set them apart from the perimeter. The custom stainless-steel hood features “Cartier” screws detailing matte brass accents and anchors the Wolf 48” dual fuel range. A new window, framed by glass display cabinets, adds brightness along the rear wall, with dark herringbone floors creating a solid presence throughout the space.
