On April 22, 2013, MainStreet Design Build began a 6-month construction project that ended November 1, 2013 with a beautiful 655 square foot addition off the rear of this client's home. The addition included this gorgeous custom kitchen, a large mudroom with a locker for everyone in the house, a brand new laundry room and 3rd car garage. As part of the renovation, a 2nd floor closet was also converted into a full bathroom, attached to a child’s bedroom; the formal living room and dining room were opened up to one another with custom columns that coordinated with existing columns in the family room and kitchen; and the front entry stairwell received a complete re-design. In this gorgeous Carmel residence, the primary objective for the great room was to achieve a more luminous and airy ambiance by eliminating the prevalent brown tones and refinishing the floors to a natural shade. The kitchen underwent a stunning transformation, featuring white cabinets with stylish navy accents. The overly intricate hood was replaced with a striking two-tone metal hood, complemented by a marble backsplash that created an enchanting focal point. The two islands were redesigned to incorporate a new shape, offering ample seating to accommodate their large family. In the butler's pantry, floating wood shelves were installed to add visual interest, along with a beverage refrigerator. The kitchen nook was transformed into a cozy booth-like atmosphere, with an upholstered bench set against beautiful wainscoting as a backdrop. An oval table was introduced to add a touch of softness. To maintain a cohesive design throughout the home, the living room carried the blue and wood accents, incorporating them into the choice of fabrics, tiles, and shelving. This client wanted to have their kitchen as their centerpiece for their house. As such, I designed this kitchen to have a dark walnut natural wood finish with timeless white kitchen island combined with metal appliances. The entire home boasts an open, minimalistic, elegant, classy, and functional design, with the living room showcasing a unique vein cut silver travertine stone showcased on the fireplace. Warm colors were used throughout in order to make the home inviting in a family-friendly setting. Project designed by Denver, Colorado interior designer Margarita Bravo.
