Davenport Contracting renovated this 6355 square foot shoreline colonial in a private association in Old Greenwich CT (with 5 bedrooms and 7 baths). The home has water views of Long Island Sound from an outdoor covered flagstone patio with fireplace. The family room featured in this photo sports the uniquely contemporary, fresh, & clean redesign reflected throughout the house. The home has 5 Fireplaces (such as stone fireplace in the family room ) , large generous rooms, and formal details like the coffered ceilings and french doors pictured here.

This New Build sits on a stunning body of water and has a unique quality about the space itself. While it has qualities of a more contemporary style with the vast open space, the client’s style was not necessarily contemporary by nature. Since most of the main floor was integrated into one large area the approach for furnishings and fabrics could not be overly traditional. I combined some geometric patterns with a transitional frame to ensure the space was not too overdone. The result is a current yet timeless look that will be in style for years to come.

This cozy, transitional family room is filled with wonderful detailing. We see wainscoting through out the room and a gorgeous paneled ceiling. The over sized fireplace is detailed with "pilaster" columns, plank and panel surfaces, crown molding and a custom mantle giving additional charm and architectural interest to the room. The alcove with 7 panels of windows adds plenty of light to the room. The eclectic selection of furnishings add an interesting element to the room. The over sized coffee table, large tufted contemporary sofa, sofa chairs and leather seating offer a relaxed and elegant feel to the room.
