This 1000+ Bottle, glass enclosed, custom wine cellar was built in Memphis, Tennessee using custom stain and finish and Maple wine racking. This beautiful, almost mid century looking wine room utilizes a 1 ton fully ducted wine guardian cooling system. Vintage Cellars made sure to oversize this cooling unit in this particular wine storage space due to the large glass doors the client wished to incorporate into the space. What a showpiece wine room this space is! This space also had custom stonework built into which the wine racking was placed. The accentuated lighting adds that extra kick to this walk in wine cellar. ワインの保存に適した環境とは？

ワインの本場であるヨーロッパでは、地下に「カーヴ」と呼ばれる貯蔵庫を設置し、そこでワインを保存して熟成させます。つまり、カーヴはワインを保存・熟成させるための理想的な環境であり、具体的には

温度は15℃くらいで常に一定

湿度は70％くらいの高め

日光や蛍光灯の光が当たらない

ワインボトルは横に寝かせた状態で動かない

においがこもらない

といった条件が挙げられます。それに比べて、温度差も湿度差も大きい日本の気候は、残念ながらワインの保存には適しているとは言えません。特に、近年のように真夏日・猛暑日が続くような環境にワインを置いておくと、変質して香りが損なわれてしまいます。

トラディショナルスタイルのワインセラーと冷蔵庫の違い

暑さがワインの大敵なら、家庭の冷蔵庫にワインを保存するのはどうでしょう？冷蔵庫にはさまざまな食品が保存されており、毎日何度も開け閉めされ、そのたびに振動します。また、ワインにとっては温度が低すぎるために熟成が進まず、また湿度が低すぎてコルク栓が乾燥してしまいます。したがって、冷蔵庫はワイン保存の条件を満たしておらず、ワインの長期保存には向いていません。一方、ワインセラーはワインの保存に特化しているので、他の食品の匂いが移る心配もありませんし、温度や湿度もワインに最適な設定で保存することができます。

ワインセラーの選び方
