Here, warm cream cabinets are accented beautifully with Cambria Canterbury Quartz countertops, Jerusalem Gold limestone backsplashes, and bronze accents. The stainless steel appliances and Kohler stainless steel Simplice faucet provide a nice contrast to the dark bronze hardware, tile inserts, and light fixtures. The existing breakfast room light fixture, table, and chairs blend beautifully with the new selections in the room. New hardwood floors, finished to match the existing throughout the house, work fabulously with the warm yellow walls. The kitchen offers a double island, with a built-in breakfast bar, and a seating area to comfortably seat 8 for quick meals. Focusing on the details such as the custom millwork ceiling, and built-in cabinetry to suit all storage needs was a necessity.

We "flipped" the layout of this kitchen resulting in a much more functional space. We removed an oddly-placed pantry and a less-than-comfortable window bench to reposition the primary sink and working kitchen to overlook the rear garden. The new space is now open to the adjacent living room and provides for a gracefully curved breakfast banquette or counter seating at the island. The concept behind this beautiful traditional kitchen renovation was to enhance existing characteristics of the room. The great natural light, lofted ceiling to the left of the kitchen, creating a light, airy atmosphere. We felt keeping the palette light and clean in terms of cabinetry and backsplash enhanced the warmth of the hardwood flooring. The style is traditional but timeless. Details like door style, the detailing on the island legs, crown molding, and decorative accents like corbels are what give this beautiful kitchen it’s charm. From each vantage point there is a focal area, like the undermount sink anchored by the perimeter windows and upper cabinetry, the feature area in the backsplash above the cook-top and below the custom hood, and the stunning kitchen island with extended countertop for additional seating.

Rodwin Architecture & Skycastle Homes Location: Boulder, CO USA Our clients asked us to breathe new life into a dark and chopped up 1990’s home, that had a solid shell but a dysfunctional floor plan and dated finishes. We took down all the walls and created an open concept, sunny plan where all the public social spaces connected. We added a Dutch front door and created both a foyer and proper mud-room for the first time, so guests now had a sense of arrival and a place to hang their jackets. The odd dated kitchen that was the heart of the home was rebuilt from scratch with a simple white and blue palette. We opened up the south wall of the main floor with large windows and doors to help BBQ’s and parties flow from inside to the patio. The sagging and faded wrap-around porch was rebuilt from scratch. We re-arranged the interior spaces to create a dream kid’s playroom packed with organized storage and just far enough away from the grown-ups so that everyone can co-exist peacefully. We redid the finishes & fixtures throughout, and opened up the staircase to be an elegant path through this 4 storey house. Built by Skycastle Construction.

For the drawer and door fronts this was done in Dezignatek with the Contemporary design. Colour was in Dezignatek Ecru Matt. Open shelves and floating shelves in Dezignatek Ranfurly Oak. Benchtop in Caesarstone 20mmGeorgian Bluffs. Two BLUM Towers were used inside the pantry.

The style and design of this kitchen was a compromise for the husband and wife who each had ideas of their ideal kitchen. He liked glazed raised panel cabinets and she liked a cleaner look with lighter color cabinets. We were able to totally customize it for these clients with a custom island for prep and seating area, spice drawer, plenty of drawers for large pots and pans, 2 pull out trash cabinets one by sink and one in the island, interior lights for the upper glass cabinets and metal banding on custom hood. We are thrilled with how this kitchen turned out!
