The lower cabinets are shaker style and painted in Sherwin Williams Naval while the upper cabinets are Sherwin Williams in Repose Gray. The exposed beams and window trim are the home's original. The island counter is monte cristo granite and the perimeter counters are fossil gray quartz.

Copper is slowly creeping its way into colour palettes throughout the home; and kitchen design is no different. A copper, grey and blue colour palette was chosen for this new kitchen design. The Oxford blue and copper create a complementary combo that’s vibrant and rich. Working with the client, we created a design that contrasts the Mackintosh Sculptured doors painted in Oxford Blue and White Mackintosh Sculptured doors. The Worktops are a soft grey to complement the blue units and are an exquisite CRL Verona quartz with a rich OGEE Edging which gives the worktop a really luxurious touch. The client wanted a smart traditional style kitchen that was built for entertaining. So the tall units include a chefs pantry, a wine glass/ wine prep unit and in column Caple wine cooler serves the needs of guests at the dining table. All the appliances are Neff and include two slide and hide pyrolytic ovens, a Flex induction hob, built-in microwave & grill, and an American fridge freezer. The units also house an integrated dishwasher and a built under fridge in the “u” part of the kitchen allows ingredients to be easily accessible by the cook. To make efficient use of the space we custom made the plate rack and extractor canopy. Adding a few copper accessories to bring an elegant copper glow into the entertaining space. The beautiful handcrafted porcelain Shaws sink with Perrin and Rowe Phoenician tap gives a traditional, practical influence to the kitchen whilst a few touches of copper in the pendant lights and kitchen accessories lend warmth to a very simple colour scheme of grey and blue and immediately adds character and interest. The lighter grey of the worktops enhances the contrast and adding turquoise keeps the palette fresh. Photos by Lia Vittone

The Brief This Worthing client sought a stylish upgrade on their previous kitchen, swapping an old monochrome kitchen for something a little more colourful. As well as a new theme, it was also up to designer Phil to incorporate a traditional element to match the style of this property, incorporating useful storage options. This client was also looking for a full flooring improvement which would help to integrate a dining and seating area into this vast space. Design Elements To suit the space designer Phil has created a great layout which incorporates all the elements of this project brief, with the bulk of amenities centred around a range cooker. Extra storage is provided in tall units that run all the way towards the dining and living area of this property. The theme is comprised of Virginia shaker furniture from British supplier Mereway in colours sea mist and pebble grey. Traditional features have been included in this project in the form of a butler style sink and herringbone flooring from Karndean. The flooring has been fitted by our expert team, and runs throughout this whole space to create a luxurious feel. The chimney breast surrounding the range looks original, but has been built out by our installation team to add a further traditional element. Phil has added further storage either side of the range in the form of discrete cabinetry. Special Inclusions A key part of this design was creating a communal feel in the kitchen. To accomplish this, great care has been taken to incorporate the seating and dining area into the design making the vast room feel connected. To add to this element a peninsula island has been included with space for three to sit. Around the kitchen, solid quartz surfaces have been opted for, with Silestone’s lusso finish nicely complimenting the theme of the space. Project Highlight To integrate the required storage, designer Phil has used a number of clever solutions to provide organised and maximised storage space. An impressive pantry is built into tall units, with corner units and a pull out pantry also in the design. Feature end unit storage provides a nice place to store decorative cook books. The End Result The end result is a kitchen and dining space the ticks all boxes. A great design incorporates the traditional features, storage requirements and extra inclusions this client desired to create a wonderful kitchen space. The dark navy cabinets and white subway tile are a classic pairing in keeping with the age of the home. The clean lines of the natural Cherry Wood Hood brings warmth and harmony with the warm wood tones of the floor.

This delightful family lived with their traditional kitchen for several years before bringing me in to expand and modernize. The 1920’s Tudor had the typical compartmentalized rooms surrounding the kitchen. A previous owner had expanded it into the breakfast room, but hadn’t removed any walls. However, they placed a large addition in the rear which enabled us to remove the cramped ½ bath and practically inaccessible pantry for relocation. By removing those walls, we were able to expand into a naturally-flowing U-shaped kitchen with a seating peninsula, adding a second prep sink for another cook. Removing the gas range, we added double ovens, an induction cooktop, and 30-inch-deep pantry cabinets, thus giving the full-depth refrigerator the appearance of a built-in. L-shaped, floating corner shelves with incorporated LED lights contribute to the openness. While we liked the idea of removing the wall to the existing dining room, the need to keep the family cat out of certain areas led us to remove only half, and installing a gorgeous barn door. What would normally be considered an appliance garage is actually a recessed space into where we eventually put a new ½ bath, which provides an interesting defined shelf space within the bath. Welter & Welter Köln Cook´s Blue - Die blaue Shaker Küche Zuerst waren die Bodenfliesen, dann ist die Küche gebaut worden. Wir haben diese Küche nach den Wünschen des Kunden an den Raum angepasst. Die Küche ist mit 11m² sehr klein, aber offen zum großen Wohnraum. Die Insel ist der Mittelpunkt der Wohnung, hier werden Plätzchen gebacken, Hausaufgaben gemacht oder in der Sonne gefrühstückt. Der Kühlschrank und Einbaubackofen wurden aus der alten Küche übernommen, das Gaskochfeld ist neu. Das Kochfeld würde bewusst nicht in die Insel geplant, hier ist später noch eine Haube geplant und dies würde die Küche zu stark vom Wohnraum abtrennen. Der Einbaubackofen wurde bewusst in der Rückseite der Insel "versteckt", so ist er von der Raumseite aus nicht zu sehen. Die Arbeitsplatten sind aus Eiche, mit durchgehender Lamelle, als Besonderheit wurde hier die Arbeitsplatte der Insel auf dem Sideboard-Schrank fortgeführt. Die Muschelgriffe sind aus England im Industriedesign gehalten. Der Spülstein ist von Villeroy und Boch, 90cm Breit mit 2 Becken, der Geschirrspüler von Miele ist Vollintegriert. Die ganze Küche ist aus Vollholz und handlackiert mit Farben von Farrow and Ball aus England.
