Eingangsbereiche verdienen eine besondere Aufmerksamkeit, denn sie sind die Visitenkarte eines Hauses. Wir Menschen fühlen instinktiv, ob wir bleiben oder wieder gehen wollen. Die alte Treppenanlage ist komplett überarbeitet worden mit Betonstufen, Geländer und Beleuchtung. Fast raumhohe Zimmertüren ohne sichtbar vorstehende Zarge wirken so zurückhaltend, als wären sie Teil der Wand. Der großformatige Fliesenboden mit seinen zahlreichen Schattierungen verläuft durch die ganze Ebene.

The original wrought iron railing was discovered during the demolition phase of the project, having been encased with wood studs and plaster during earlier remodeling. Additionally, the width of the opening through the wall had been narrowed by removing the arch, and the concrete floor was hidden under a layer of modern saltillo tile. The arch was rebuilt, and anchored to the cast-in-place concrete beam that still spanned the entirety of the opening, the railing was cleaned, and the concrete floor and stair refinished by a local expert in the trade. The main residence was designed by renowned architect Mickey Muenning—the architect of Big Sur’s Post Ranch Inn, —who artfully combined the contemporary sensibility and the Tuscan vernacular, featuring vaulted ceilings, stained concrete floors, reclaimed Tuscan wood beams, antique Italian roof tiles and a stone tower. Beautifully designed for indoor/outdoor living; the grounds offer a plethora of comfortable and inviting places to lounge and enjoy the stunning views. No expense was spared in the construction of this exquisite estate.

Accoya was selected as the ideal material for this breathtaking home in West Vancouver. Accoya was used for the railing, siding, fencing and soffits throughout the property. In addition, an Accoya handrail was specifically custom designed by Upper Canada Forest Products. Design Duo Matt McLeod and Lisa Bovell of McLeod Bovell Modern houses switched between fluidity, plasticity, malleability and even volumetric design to try capture their process of space-making. Unlike anything surrounding it, this home’s irregular shape and atypical residential building materials are more akin to modern-day South American projects that stem from their surroundings to showcase concrete’s versatility. Esta vivienda unifamiliar es el resultado de una reforma de gran envergadura en donde el concepto es el de la monumentalidad y la contundencia de cada elemento que arma el conjunto; a través de pantallas de piedra, grandes marcos de concreto en obra limpia y amplios ventanales se busca una implantación de gran presencia dentro del terreno y a su vez aprovechar las visuales del entorno natural en donde se encuentra. Es así como se desarrolla el diseño de la vivienda como elemento protagónico y, posteriormente, el área de piscina y terraza que también es producto de reforma; a todo esto, se le suman los jardines que se esparcen por toda la parcela y conectan el terreno de principio a fin.
