For this black and white Scandinavian style kitchen we wanted to make a bold statement by using matte black for majority of the kitchen cabinets. The large 42" wide range hood was custom designed and crafted by us and lacquered the same colour as the upper cabinets. The 6x8 subway tile and pure white quartz create the horizon. We decided on black soapstone countertop for the island for a more subtle but amazing feature. The natural oak floor brings in the warmth and to finish it off we used these large dome pendants for the wow factor and bronze hardware to give it some bling.

The galley kitchen is open to the rest of the space on the main level with a island that contains a sink and dishwasher on one side and a built in bench seat for seating at the table. Custom full overlay cabinets were built to fit the space. Black granite countertops were selected and a glass tile was used for the backsplash. Photography by Megan Burns

A large kitchen with shaker style cabinets with a Bitter White Matador conversion varnish finish. A 4' x 8' walnut butcher block island counter top and walnut floating shelves contrast the white cabinetry. Tresco recessed led under cabinet lighting illuminate the counter tops well.

Create Good Sinks' 46" workstation sink (5LS46c) with two "Ardell" faucets from our own collection. This 16 gauge stainless steel undermount sink replaced the dinky drop-in prep sink that was in the island originally. The oversized, single basin sink with two tiers lets you slide cutting boards and other accessories along the length of the sink. This 1907 home in Ericsson neighborhood of South Minneapolis was in need of some love. A tiny nearly unfunctional kitchen and leaking bathroom were ready for updates.. The homeowners wanted to embrace their heritage and also have a simple and sustainable space for their family to grow in. The new spaces meld the homes traditional elements with Traditional Scandinavian design influences. In the kitchen, a wall was opened to the dining room for natural light to carry between rooms and create the appearance of space. Traditional Shaker style/flush inset custom white cabinetry with paneled front appliances were designed for a clean aesthetic. Custom recycled glass countertops, white subway tile, Kohler sink and faucet, beadboard ceilings, and refinished existing hardwood floors complete the kitchen with all new electrical and plumbing. In the bathroom, we were limited by space! After discussing the homeowners use of space, the decision was made to eliminate the existing tub for a new walk-in shower. By installing a curb-less shower drain, floating sink and shelving, and wall hung toilet; we were able to maximize floor space! White cabinetry, Kohler fixtures, and custom recycled glass countertops were carried upstairs to connect to the main floor remodel. White and black porcelain hex floors, marble accents, and oversized white tile on the walls complete the space for a clean and minimal look without losing its traditional roots! We love the black accents in the space including black edge on the shower niche and pops of black hex on the floors.
