With using the walnut cabinets, we tried to keep the sizes as uniform as possible but there were some aspects the client wanted. One of those was the corner appliance garage. Hiding these necessary evils in a beautiful cabinet with easy accessibility was the perfect marriage.

When we drove out to Mukilteo for our initial consultation, we immediately fell in love with this house. With its tall ceilings, eclectic mix of wood, glass and steel, and gorgeous view of the Puget Sound, we quickly nicknamed this project "The Mukilteo Gem". Our client, a cook and baker, did not like her existing kitchen. The main points of issue were short runs of available counter tops, lack of storage and shortage of light. So, we were called in to implement some big, bold ideas into a small footprint kitchen with big potential. We completely changed the layout of the room by creating a tall, built-in storage wall and a continuous u-shape counter top. Early in the project, we took inventory of every item our clients wanted to store in the kitchen and ensured that every spoon, gadget, or bowl would have a dedicated "home" in their new kitchen. The finishes were meticulously selected to ensure continuity throughout the house. We also played with the color scheme to achieve a bold yet natural feel.This kitchen is a prime example of how color can be used to both make a statement and project peace and balance simultaneously. While busy at work on our client's kitchen improvement, we also updated the entry and gave the homeowner a modern laundry room with triple the storage space they originally had. End result: ecstatic clients and a very happy design team. That's what we call a big success! John Granen.

This photo: For a couple's house in Paradise Valley, architect C.P. Drewett created a sleek modern kitchen with Caesarstone counters and tile backsplashes from Art Stone LLC. Porcelain-tile floors from Villagio Tile & Stone provide contrast to the dark-stained vertical-grain white-oak cabinetry fabricated by Reliance Custom Cabinets. Positioned near the base of iconic Camelback Mountain, “Outside In” is a modernist home celebrating the love of outdoor living Arizonans crave. The design inspiration was honoring early territorial architecture while applying modernist design principles. Dressed with undulating negra cantera stone, the massing elements of “Outside In” bring an artistic stature to the project’s design hierarchy. This home boasts a first (never seen before feature) — a re-entrant pocketing door which unveils virtually the entire home’s living space to the exterior pool and view terrace. A timeless chocolate and white palette makes this home both elegant and refined. Creating a sleek, modern and minimal new-look in a traditional 1960s built home, Luna Bianco is the ideal choice for a busy family kitchen that needs to work hard and look good. When the owners of the three-bed semi-detached property in Cheshire approached CSS Granite for help sourcing the perfect worksurface to complement their choice of handleless furniture in timeless matt white, Luna Bianco by CRL Stone was suggested as the ideal solution. Extended to create a larger kitchen and living area, the space, measuring around 7m long by 4m wide, was designed to be functional and modern, with a working kitchen complete with island at the centre of the room. The handleless furniture is sleek and modern, giving the kitchen a light, airy feel, with the homeowners envisaging a white stone worktop with a slight pattern as a practical solution. Matching shades of white can be more complex than it sounds, however, and after much searching, the property owners were unable to find the ideal surface with a non-repetitive, soft pattern that they wanted. Until that is, they were shown a sample of Luna Bianco. “When we saw a sample of Luna Bianco we instantly understood that this was the one. We arranged to go and see a full size slab of the stone and we liked it even more. It is very original, very different from any stone we had looked at. We like that it has golden shades as well as grey and white,” the homeowner explains. una Bianco (Super Honed) is a cool grey and white quartz surface featuring cloud-like swirls and soft grey veining. With all the enduring and durable qualities CRL Quartz offers, this extremely versatile design can be paired with a multitude of colour palettes and textural design elements. “Our kitchen has a lot of stone including the splashbacks, worktops and the island with waterfalls. We had some concerns that it could be very busy with too much pattern. However there was no need to worry, Luna Bianco looks wonderful and the pattern is very subtle. We also like its matt finish, which again is very modern and different from most stones,” comments the homeowner. With the hob integrated into the central island, seating running along its length and a long black pendant lighting above, this is now the perfect space for cooking and socialising.

This modern kitchen has statement lighting above the island with a dropped wood soffit with wood slats. The island has waterfall ends and most of the appliances are stainless steel. The refrigerator and freezer are paneled with a flush application. The counters, backsplash and hood are all quartzite.

A large picture window at one end brings in more light and takes advantage of the beautiful view of the river and the barn’s natural surroundings. The design incorporates sophisticated cabinetry with plenty of storage for crockery, larder items, fresh ingredients, and ample storage for their children's toys. For it to be a multi-functional space, Jaye’s layout includes a dedicated area to facilitate food preparation, coffee and tea making, cooking, dining, family gatherings, entertaining and moments of relaxation. Within the centre of the room, a large island allows the clients to have easy movement and access to all the sustainably conscious integrated appliances the client wanted when cooking on one side and comfortable seating on the opposite side. A venting Hob is located on the Island due to the high vaulted ceiling and more importantly, our client could keep an eye on the children while cooking and preparing family meals. The large island also includes seating for the family to gather around for casual dining or a coffee, and the client added a fabulous peachy pink sofa at the end for lounging or reading with the children, or quite simply sitting and taking in the beautiful view

" The project involved removing a section of the load-bearing wall to open up the kitchen and adding a stylish island for additional functionality. We installed new countertops and cabinets, offering a wide range of elegant materials. A dedicated pantry area was also included to optimize storage. The end result was a beautiful and efficient kitchen that exceeded the homeowner's expectations.
