This was an interesting project to work on, The original builder/ designer was a student of Frank Lloyd Wright. The challenge with this project was to update the kitchen, while honoring the original designer's vision.

This project has been the most remarkable Kansas City kitchen design that Design Connection Inc. has had the opportunity to be involved. The client came to us with wanting to raise the roof of an upstairs apartment over their insurance office. It would be doomed at the center and curved down at both ends. The walls would be very tall and the living space would be all in one area. The challenge was make the kitchen and bar area be part of the living space with furniture and still seem spacious. We selected a beautiful natural maple for the cabinets and raised them up high. Our client loved blue pearl for the granite countertops. We raised a glass area above the cook top with steel tubes to put spices when they were cooking. The table was designed to be part of the island and bar stools was perfect for the counter high tops. The refrigerator and freezer drawers were hidden behind wood doors and make the kitchen look seamless. The lighting was truly amazing. We accented under the island with rope lights to create interest and make a separation from floors. The monorail lights went from one part of the room across to the other. The sheet rock was curved to accent light up to the ceiling. Lighting was used throughout the space to create interest and became an architectural feature in the room. This home has stood the test time and is considered classic in design. This fun kitchen is a perfect fit for its’ owners! As a returning client we knew this space would be a pleasure to complete, having previously updated their main bath. The variegated blue picket tiles add bold colour the homeowners craved, while the slab doors in a natural maple with matte black finishes and soft white quartz countertops offer a warm modern backdrop. Filled with personality, this vibrant new kitchen inspires their love of cooking. The small footprint required creative planning to make the most efficient use of space while still including an open shelf section to allow for display and an open feel. The addition of a second sink was a game changer, allowing both sides of the room to function optimally. This kitchen was the perfect finishing touch for their home!

When our clients from St Albans came to us with their renovation project, they had a particular vision. They told us they wanted their home to be unique — something no one else would have. They were drawn to a mix of classic and contemporary design but weren't sure how to make it work practically. This project is more than just a kitchen renovation. It also involves renovating the dining, walk-in pantry, general bar area, special whisky room, and utility room. The overall design is an exciting mix of traditional and modern elements. It starts with the cabinetry, a mix of Nobilia Touch kitchens in Slate Grey and Manor Dorchester in-frame kitchens in Off Black. This combination created a unique space with an elegant yet minimalist feel. The worktops are made in 20mm Silestone Calacatta Gold quartz from Algarve, 80mm solid Safari Brasilia wood from Spekva, and Antique Silver Mirror from Southern Counties Glass. The white quartz worktops add brightness to the room, the wood breakfast bar on the island perfectly matches the dining furniture, and the mirror worktops add a touch of luxury. Of course, this renovation would not be complete without all the best and latest appliances from Bora, Blanco, Quooker, and Siemens. Lastly, we added silver chrome cabinet handles and pendant lights to finish the kitchen perfectly. The result is a beautiful mix of classic and contemporary design, with dedicated spaces for entertaining and showcasing our client's collections. We recommend blending classic and contemporary design elements if you're considering renovating your kitchen. It's a great way to add personality to your space without sacrificing function. The storage space in this galley kitchen was doubled by extending the cabinetry up to the 10' ceiling. The pendant light was original to the home and refurbished. Task lighting & in cabinet lighting was added to light the dark space.

A wall was removed to open up this remodeled kitchen into the living room of this midcentury modern gem in Madison, WI. White flat panel doors and slab drawers were selected for the modern theme. The original brick fireplace and hearth can now be seen from the kitchen and brings warmth to the space. The original floors were tiled but replaced with wood herringbone floors.
