Full gut renovation and facade restoration of an historic 1850s wood-frame townhouse. The current owners found the building as a decaying, vacant SRO (single room occupancy) dwelling with approximately 9 rooming units. The building has been converted to a two-family house with an owner’s triplex over a garden-level rental. Due to the fact that the very little of the existing structure was serviceable and the change of occupancy necessitated major layout changes, nC2 was able to propose an especially creative and unconventional design for the triplex. This design centers around a continuous 2-run stair which connects the main living space on the parlor level to a family room on the second floor and, finally, to a studio space on the third, thus linking all of the public and semi-public spaces with a single architectural element. This scheme is further enhanced through the use of a wood-slat screen wall which functions as a guardrail for the stair as well as a light-filtering element tying all of the floors together, as well its culmination in a 5’ x 25’ skylight.

The 'MIAMI' Biefbi kitchen was born from the idea of reviving the styles which made the brand, BERTONE, a global success by tracing its stories and values from past generations to today which now embodies future technologies. Design and usability are perfectly combined in this project, where the balance between refined aesthetics and ergonomics originate creative solutions which don’t neglect the functional aspects, for a daily experience in the name of accessibility and practicality. Characterized by forms and sinuous lines which match harmoniously to the straight lines, MIAMI proposes a contemporary design with some vintage touches, emphasized by the elegant use of sophisticated materials such as Peltrox® for the countertop and backsplash use. This innovative steel, combines the unsurpassed characteristics of stainless AISI 304 to the warmth, finishing and pewter tradition. The color palette was taken directly from the heritage of Bertone’s brand, indicating as center of this new concept a color which marked the automotive design history, orange, very dear to Bertone and also used for the legendary Lamborghini Miura. In Peterhead, we were tasked with transforming a conventional dining room into a modern, central kitchen. The client's aim was to relocate the kitchen from a secluded rear location to a more accessible and prominent area of the house. This required significant layout changes, including the removal of partitions and the reconfiguration of doorways. We selected the Nolte Metal & Feel range for its sleek and contemporary look, paired with MatrixArt Black handleless trims and integrated lighting. The cabinetry was finished in a modern Grey Steel with Arctic White accents, creating a sophisticated and inviting atmosphere. The design aimed to create a kitchen that was not just functional but also a stylish focal point of the home. The worktops were crafted from 20mm Dekton Laurent, offering a luxurious and durable surface that complemented the kitchen's modern aesthetic. We equipped the kitchen with high-quality Siemens appliances, including a single oven, combination microwave, warming drawer, panoramic induction hob with ceiling extractor, and a full-height fridge and freezer, ensuring top-tier functionality and style. Additional features included a Blanco sink and a Quooker instant boiling water tap, blending practicality with luxury. Nolte integrated LED lighting and a full-length mirror splashback enhanced the space's ambiance and visual appeal. The worktops featured a mitred waterfall end panel flowing to the floor, and the ceiling box was designed to mirror the base level arrangement. A freestanding matching Nolte table and a peninsula provided a casual dining area, aligning perfectly with the client's objectives.

For this couple, planning to move back to their rambler home in Arlington after living overseas for few years, they were ready to get rid of clutter, clean up their grown-up kids’ boxes, and transform their home into their dream home for their golden years. The old home included a box-like 8 feet x 10 feet kitchen, no family room, three small bedrooms and two back to back small bathrooms. The laundry room was located in a small dark space of the unfinished basement. This home is located in a cul-de-sac, on an uphill lot, of a very secluded neighborhood with lots of new homes just being built around them. The couple consulted an architectural firm in past but never were satisfied with the final plans. They approached Michael Nash Custom Kitchens hoping for fresh ideas. The backyard and side yard are wooded and the existing structure was too close to building restriction lines. We developed design plans and applied for special permits to achieve our client’s goals. The remodel includes a family room, sunroom, breakfast area, home office, large master bedroom suite, large walk-in closet, main level laundry room, lots of windows, front porch, back deck, and most important than all an elevator from lower to upper level given them and their close relative a necessary easier access. The new plan added extra dimensions to this rambler on all four sides. Starting from the front, we excavated to allow a first level entrance, storage, and elevator room. Building just above it, is a 12 feet x 30 feet covered porch with a leading brick staircase. A contemporary cedar rail with horizontal stainless steel cable rail system on both the front porch and the back deck sets off this project from any others in area. A new foyer with double frosted stainless-steel door was added which contains the elevator. The garage door was widened and a solid cedar door was installed to compliment the cedar siding. The left side of this rambler was excavated to allow a storage off the garage and extension of one of the old bedrooms to be converted to a large master bedroom suite, master bathroom suite and walk-in closet. We installed matching brick for a seam-less exterior look. The entire house was furnished with new Italian imported highly custom stainless-steel windows and doors. We removed several brick and block structure walls to put doors and floor to ceiling windows. A full walk in shower with barn style frameless glass doors, double vanities covered with selective stone, floor to ceiling porcelain tile make the master bathroom highly accessible. The other two bedrooms were reconfigured with new closets, wider doorways, new wood floors and wider windows. Just outside of the bedroom, a new laundry room closet was a major upgrade. A second HVAC system was added in the attic for all new areas. The back side of the master bedroom was covered with floor to ceiling windows and a door to step into a new deck covered in trex and cable railing. This addition provides a view to wooded area of the home. By excavating and leveling the backyard, we constructed a two story 15’x 40’ addition that provided the tall ceiling for the family room just adjacent to new deck, a breakfast area a few steps away from the remodeled kitchen. Upscale stainless-steel appliances, floor to ceiling white custom cabinetry and quartz counter top, and fun lighting improved this back section of the house with its increased lighting and available work space. Just below this addition, there is extra space for exercise and storage room. This room has a pair of sliding doors allowing more light inside. The right elevation has a trapezoid shape addition with floor to ceiling windows and space used as a sunroom/in-home office. Wide plank wood floors were installed throughout the main level for continuity. The hall bathroom was gutted and expanded to allow a new soaking tub and large vanity. The basement half bathroom was converted to a full bathroom, new flooring and lighting in the entire basement changed the purpose of the basement for entertainment and spending time with grandkids. Off white and soft tone were used inside and out as the color schemes to make this rambler spacious and illuminated. Final grade and landscaping, by adding a few trees, trimming the old cherry and walnut trees in backyard, saddling the yard, and a new concrete driveway and walkway made this home a unique and charming gem in the neighborhood.

This modern style kitchen design in Grosse Pointe Woods features light wood finished shaker style custom Woodmaster kitchen cabinets. The frameless cabinets have soft closing doors and drawers, with special 48" wall cabinets in the buffet area and 1/8" clear glass in the top part of the door. The cabinetry is accented by Atlas Hardware, Mont Quartz countertop, and Virginia Tile Vallelunga Calacatta porcelain subway tile backsplash with Schluter trim. Task Lighting buffet lighting including undercabinet, above cabinet, and in cabinet lights illuminate the space. GE appliances feature throughout this kitchen remodel including a GE Profile over the range convection microwave oven. The team also refinished hardwood floors to complete the design.

Rossi & More took the project from concept to completion, and you can see how close to the 3D concept CAD drawings the end result is. The brief was to make the most of the open plan living/kitchen/dining area in this compact one bedroom apartment, designed for a single person who loves to have friends over. Key requests from the client: Storage space in a small kitchen Breakfast bar Neutral colours and greys Hide boiler and other utilities Incorporate a laundry drying area Here’s how it transformed: Two different tones of grey from the MDF to the granite countertop/splashback were used throughout the entire open area. The wooden finish provides a warm feeling to the room. In the kitchen, the client wanted a breakfast area and plenty of storage. A door was requested to separate the kitchen and laundry area with a space to dry clothes and accommodate the boiler. This would have blocked the window, which is the only source of natural light for the small kitchen. Instead of a door, @rossi.and.more recommended efficient joinery to hide all the equipment/racks that are needed daily. It also increases the countertop area and provides a second sink. Built-in steel shelves just above the sink area maximize the space and hide the dishes. Washing machine, foldable ironing board, clothes rack, space for utensils, etc. all have their place. To hide the boiler, a white slatted panel door was designed. It can be opened for inspection when needed and doesn’t compromise the required ventilation.
