Our clients were seeking a classic and stylish Shaker kitchen with a contemporary edge, to complement the architecture of their five-year-old house, which features a modern beamed ceiling and herringbone flooring. They also wanted a kitchen island to include banquette seating surrounding one end of a large industrial-style dining table with an Ash wooden table top that our clients already owned. We designed the main run of in frame cabinetry with a classic cornice to completely fit within the recessed space along the back wall behind the island, which is hand-painted in Stewkey Blue by Farrow & Ball. This includes a central inglenook and an overmantel that conceals a Siemens canopy extractor hood above a white Everhot range cooker. Overhead cabinets and undercounter storage cupboards were included within the design, together with oak dovetailed deep drawer storage boxes. A Samsung American-style fridge freezer was also integrated within the run. A 30mm thick quartz worktop in Tuscany colourway extends on either side of the range cooker and this is repeated on the kitchen island as well, with an overhang on both sides of the u-shaped design to accommodate bar stools beneath. In the centre of the island, we created u-shaped banquette seating upholstered in grey velvet to surround one end of the large rectangular dining table. To store their collection of fine wines, we specified two undercounter wine conditioners by Miele to fit within each end of the island to store reds, whites and Champagnes. Along the length of the island, facing the Everhot is a large ceramic double-bowl Belfast sink by Shaws of Darwen and a Quooker Cube tap, providing hot, cold, boiling and sparkling water. On the task side of the island, two 60cm dishwashers by Miele are integrated at either end of the cabinetry together with storage for pull-out bins and utility items. On a further run to the left of the island, we designed and made a large Shaker two-door pantry larder, hand-painted in All White by Farrow & Ball and featuring deep dovetail drawer boxes beneath. Extending on either side of the pantry is natural oak contemporary open shelving to mix with the traditional design of the kitchen. A further freestanding cabinet with a natural solid oak top was handmade to sit beneath the client’s wall-mounted television. Cup handles and knobs are all brushed brass by Crofts and Assinder, with matching brass butt hinges.

This classic Modern Shaker kitchen has been designed in fashionable dark slate blue. The oak grain of the natural wood coming through the matt painted finish adds an additional element of sophistication. The overall look is completed by Carrara marble effect quartz worktops with a full height splash back on the main run and downstand on the island. The generous space and the island design allowed for the main kitchen to be complemented with an additional double larder/breakfast cupboard and a separate dresser unit on the opposite wall. Bora double induction hob with integrated extraction provides the perfect, super- efficient solution for clients who love to cook . The two gorgeous dogs have their own designated space to sleep with bespoke joinery made to provide a cosy “home” that matches the kitchen style. Oak Veneered Birch Plywood Kitchen with Painted Oak doors and fronts. The veneered cabinets, with the plywood edge exposed add warmth when accessing the cabinet. The drawers are dovetailed too, adding strength and detail. The single piece face frames to each run of cabinets increases space and offers a cleaner look than multiple face frames, a sign this is really bespoke. Details to add. Shallow storage to the usual void on the ends of the Island, used for cooking book storage. Using a steel frame under the ovens, allow these to be fitted without a division underneath, so allowing for extra wide drawers underneath. Spice racks fitted into the drawers as requested by the client. Pullout storage, matching the dovetailed drawers within the kitchen. All another sign of a bespoke kitchen, where our designers think about the space and over-all look of your kitchen.

Aldana cabinet doors in PTO Taupe Grey, a bespoke colour they loved, resulting in a timeless interpretation of the classic shaker-style kitchen. Their integration with the gold grain worktop radiates an air of sophistication, and also being inviting and welcoming, making it one of their favourite features. Our design also prioritised optimal functionality for the couple, with a striking example of this being the placement of the Slide&Hide NEFF ovens. These have been cleverly placed for convenient accessibility as the door next to them goes into the garage so they can use the ovens without impacting on walking in and out of the room giving Mr. & Mrs. Wharton a kitchen that aligns with their requirements and lifestyles.

With modern and transitional rustic touches throughout the house, it keeps an open space with natural light, and a welcoming atmosphere for family and friends.

Our customer decided to add one last feature after our renders were finalised; a waterfall worktop was added to the island, adding that final touch and making this heritage green dream kitchen truly perfect for this family.
