Specially engineered walnut timber doors were used to add warmth and character to this sleek slate handle-less kitchen design. The perfect balance of simplicity and luxury was achieved by using neutral but tactile finishes such as concrete effect, large format porcelain tiles for the floor and splashback, onyx tile worktop and minimally designed frameless cupboards, with accents of brass and solid walnut breakfast bar/dining table with a live edge.

Open concept wins again! This kitchen features natural stained wood floors throughout, along with black cabinets and sueded, YES! Sueded countertops. The client also desired a smart kitchen, so we made it happen. All of the appliances can be either started or monitored via the manufacturers smartphone app. As to not block the view into the family room, we opted for these nearly invisible glass globe pendants to keep the line of sight clean and as clear as possible. We went simple with the back splash, white oversized subway tile with black grout, allowing these black cabinets to stand out as the highlight of this kitchen. Did I mention the countertops are sueded?

A unique kitchen design like no other! The white kitchen with a hidden fridge and freezer beautifully contrasts the dark tiled back splash and black kitchen island countertop. Attached is a built in medium wood table with seating for 6, with a unique black quartz waterfall boundary. This NE Minneapolis whole-level remodel started with the existing kitchen/dining area being cramped and a rear sunken entrance to the home that did not fit the family’s everyday needs. The homeowners also wanted an open floor plan with plenty of counter space, base cabinetry, natural light, and generous walking spaces for traffic flow for a busy family of 5. A mudroom was also key to allow for a daily drop spot for coats, shoes, and sports equipment. The sunken area in the kitchen was framed in to be level with the rest of the floor, and three walls were removed to create a flexible space for their current and future needs. Natural light drove the cabinet design and resulted in primarily base cabinets instead of a standard upper cabinet/base cabinet layout. Deep drawers, accessories, and tall storage replaced what would be wall cabinets to allow for the empty wall space to capture as much natural light as we could. The double sliding door and large window were important factors in maximizing light. The island and peninsula create a multi-functioning space for two prep areas, guests to sit, a homework/work spot, etc. Come see this project in person, September 29 – 30 on the 2018 Castle Home Tour!

This open plan kitchen is certainly an ideal social place. Great for entertaining! The island is the perfect centre piece, which provides ample workspace and also the Neff induction hob. Having a large island allows for plenty of extra storage space. With cupboards and drawers on both sides. The two tone colours of the shaker doors create interest to the room and the sense of space.
