My vision for this kitchen was to create a modern and updated design style and help breathe new life into the space. I wanted to bring a smile to the homeowners' faces each time they walk in the room. I felt the space needed to be lightened up and have extraordinary finish details and a focal feature. I felt the finish of the cabinets and walls needed to be lighter and more neutral than the original glazed style. I envisioned a glass backsplash that glistens and sparkles as it catches the light. The Taj Mahal stone countertop is a statement piece that updates the space while complementing the existing travertine flooring. Luxe gold faucets add more sparkle. And for the focal? How about ceiling beams and a couple of breathtaking oversized pendants with black & gold detail? Mission accomplished!

Clients found this home on a walk, and fell in love with it. They had only bought their current home two years prior, but loved this home so much that they were willing to move. But first, they called on K Two Designs to see if the new furniture from their current home would fit. K Two Designs worked in all the furniture and helped the clients with the purchase of new pieces to round out the new space. This included painting the home and adding in rugs and draperies to soften the space.

We gave this 1978 home a magnificent modern makeover that the homeowners love! Our designers were able to maintain the great architecture of this home but remove necessary walls, soffits and doors needed to open up the space. In the living room, we opened up the bar by removing soffits and openings, to now seat 6. The original low brick hearth was replaced with a cool floating concrete hearth from floor to ceiling. The wall that once closed off the kitchen was demoed to 42" counter top height, so that it now opens up to the dining room and entry way. The coat closet opening that once opened up into the entry way was moved around the corner to open up in a less conspicuous place. The secondary master suite used to have a small stand up shower and a tiny linen closet but now has a large double shower and a walk in closet, all while maintaining the space and sq. ft.in the bedroom. This modern kitchen at Deja View Villa, a Caribbean vacation rental villa in St. John USVI mixes several design styles. The Signature Hardware 36" wide farmhouse sink, bridge faucet and James Patterson inspired kitchen island trend toward farmhouse kitchen style. That's right, the custom island is a spin off of Author, James Patterson's kitchen island. The blue paint is antiqued to give it a slight rustic feel while still resembling the blue waters of the Caribbean. Ocean blue also pops from the glass tile bubble back splash and tropical fish canvas on the wall. Modern shaker style mahogany cabinets and sleek stainless appliances and leather stools pull together the modern side of this kitchen. With this Vacation rental sleeping 17 guests, size and counter top food prep space were essential.
