For this Hove project designer Aron has combined traditional grey woodgrain furniture with sparkling white quartz work surfaces. The Brief These Hove clients required a modernisation of their kitchen space with some present-day innovations to increase functionality. In terms of style, a fusion of traditional and modern styles was needed, with an in-frame door preferred. The favoured layout was very similar to the previous, as it made the best use of the space available. A flooring improvement was also a key part of the project. Design Elements With the layout remaining quite similar, the most drastic changes to this kitchen were in the style. To achieve the modern and traditional feel, designer Aron has utilised the wood-grained Modern Classic furniture option from British supplier Mereway. It combines the in-frame structure with a traditional wood grain door front, and for this project has been used in a Castle Grey finish with cornice on full-height and wall units. The cabinetry and joinery used for this project has been handmade by our British supplier and is equipped with dovetail joinery and oak internals for drawers. A peninsula island was specified as per the previous design, which utilises sparkling quartz work surfaces in a White Attica finish. A tall door in the corner of the kitchen space appears to be extra storage, but in fact opens up to an existing pantry space. Special Inclusions A high-specification of Neff appliances has been used for this project. A Neff Slide & Hide single oven, Neff built-in microwave, Neff flexInduction hob, Neff extractor hood and Neff dishwasher all feature in the kitchen, along with the client's own American fridge freezer. For general use, a mixer tap and under-mounted 1.5 bowl Blanco have been specified, with useful drainer grooves fabricated into the work surface. Another special inclusion was the flooring, which has been improved throughout the entire kitchen and dining area. The chosen finish is a stone effect Karndean option named Grey Riven Slate. Project Feedback “My wife and I cannot speak highly enough of our recent kitchen and bathroom installations. Alexanders were terrific all the way from initial estimate stage through to handover. All of their fitters and staff were polite, professional, and very skilled tradespeople. We were very pleased that we asked them to carry out our work. “ The End Result The end result is a kitchen that achieves all the elements of the brief and more. A preferred layout has been adhered to, and the theme does really well to combine both the modern and traditional elements required. A luxury well-designed family kitchen was desired for a young family in Lymington. Their previous kitchen was tired and dark so they chose the brand new range ‘Minster’ from Mackintosh on the new ‘Graphite’ coloured cabinet. The new cabinet fully co-ordinates with the drawers and accessories making for a real luxury feel. To add a further opulent touch Quartzforms Ma White 20mm worktops were added for an affordable yet durable finish. The kitchen has been meticulously planned for this busy young, family so that everything has a home and in an accessible fashion. There is a lovely double shelved larder for all the lunchboxes, home baking, cereals, cookbooks, mixers and blenders – helping to keep the kitchen tidy on a day to day basis for organised family living. With further ample wall unit storage for teas, coffees, mugs and biscuits and glassware. In addition, there are wide deep drawers for crockery, cutlery and pans and oven trays to keep them out of site when not in use. A Le mans corner unit has also been fitted for ease of access to the corner keeping the kitchen clutter free. Even the rubbish is hidden with built in double ins for refuse and recycling. A large American Style, Neff Fridge Freezer has been plumbed in to give ice cold filtered water on tap and Ice cubes on demand with plenty of space for groceries for the family. A double oven has been built in with a gas hob. As the owners are tall a caple extractor fan, sloping in design, is the perfect choice to ensure they don’t bang their head when cooking. Next to the hob are pull out trays for oils, herbs and spices. The integrated Bosch dishwasher makes light work of dirty dishes. An 1810 company undermount stainless steel sink was chosen with the Caple Avel Tap in chrome. For finishing touches a ‘feature brick tiled wall was added near the dining area along with Moduleo flooring which is comfortable underfoot, modern looking, and so easy to clean. Plus with a 25 year guarantee; for this family was the obvious affordable choice. The contrasting elements of this space are what make it interesting. The dark island was in opposition with the light grey cabinets while finding harmony within one another. We also tried to create other contrasting elements by including a sleek and black glass backslash which contrasts the very mat Similaque black cabinets.

The Brief The brief of this project required a contemporary kitchen upgrade to suit the recent building work that had taken place at this property. An island was a desireable inclusion, with the design ideally making the view to the garden a focal point of the room. Unique elements were also required to add an individual style to the project as well as to maximise storage. Design Elements The combination of cabinetry used in this project was a key design element. The two-tone space makes use of matt effect satin grey cabinetry with concrete slate grey furniture used for textured accents. Designer George has created a great design that points to the garden area as desired by this client, with a layout that also makes the most of two skylights. The appliances required as part of this renovation were to be high specification to include useful function. A Neff Slide & Hide oven with pyrolytic capability features beneath a combination oven, with a full height refrigerator and washing machine integrated behind cabinetry. Special Inclusions To achieve the brief of this project, feature glass units have been incorporated. These nicely break up wall units and provide this client with a nice space to store glassware and decorative items. Designer George has utilised quartz worktops around the view to the garden, creating a nice feature of this area. For convenience an in-built soap dispenser features next to the sink area. The quartz used is from supplier Silestone and has been chosen in the stellar snow finish to compliment kitchen features. Lighting has been well-thought out in this space, with George employing pendant lighting above the island space, in cabinet lighting for feature units, and ambient lighting beneath wall units. At this clients request, a popular 30cm wine cabinet has been included within the island area. Project Highlight The integrated storage involved in this project is a particular highlight. This client required clever use of space, to include all amenities and items. To conquer this element, designer George has incorporated vast storage into the island space, with exposed wood drawers and end storage used. The End Result The lasting impression of this project is a wonderfully designed space. Designed to include all the desirables of the project brief, with an especially well thought-out area created around the garden view. This project was certainly close to home! The brief for this project was to create an open kitchen entertaining space for all the family. My client wanted to create a large open kitchen/dining space for all the family to enjoy. This meant I had to create an open living kitchen space that was both practical for cooking in but also a joy to sit and relax in. I designed a handle-less kitchen in a mixture of painted 'Lava' for all the base units and 'Stone' coloured doors for the wall and tall units. I also incorporated some texture and additional colour into the space by adding a walnut breakfast bar, tying together the island with the white quartz solid worktops and bespoke back painted glass splashback behind the sink. The design needed to accommodate two large single ovens (Siemens), a large induction hob on the island, a tall integrated fridge and recycling bin facilities along with lots of storage. Every house needs a heart of the home and this clients property now certainly has that!

A vaulted ceiling carries a modern and casual kitchen and open living space with an overlook into a deep Californian canyon. Stacked cabinets with beaded and frosted glass inserts scale the large back wall, gracefully uplit with LED strip lighting. An open bookcase and ornamental hood delineate the cooking and desk space below. A single strip of smoked mirror stretches across the backsplash, blending seamlessly with the solid grey quart countertop underneath. Since the kitchen wall is the main focal point upon entering, all appliances are hidden from view in a stay lift cabinet next to the fridge. A dark wood stained island anchors the central space flow and three concrete pendant lights above shine down on the Blanco undermount sink and Statuario marble quartz countertop. The living space off to the side features flanking casework to match the island in a dark stained cherry with matching glass backplash.
