A mountain modern residence situated in the Gallatin Valley of Montana. Our modern aluminum door adds just the right amount of flair to this beautiful home designed by FORMation Architecture. The Circle F Residence has a beautiful mixture of natural stone, wood and metal, creating a home that blends flawlessly into it’s environment. The modern door design was selected to complete the home with a warm front entrance. This signature piece is designed with horizontal cutters and a wenge wood handle accented with stainless steel caps. The obscure glass was chosen to add natural light and provide privacy to the front entry of the home. Performance was also factor in the selection of this piece; quad pane glass and a fully insulated aluminum door slab offer high performance and protection from the extreme weather. This distinctive modern aluminum door completes the home and provides a warm, beautiful entry way.

A long, slender bronze bar pull adds just the right amount of interest to the modern, pivoting alder door at the front entry of this mountaintop home.

This new build architectural gem required a sensitive approach to balance the strong modernist language with the personal, emotive feel desired by the clients. Taking inspiration from the California MCM aesthetic, we added bold colour blocking, interesting textiles and patterns, and eclectic lighting to soften the glazing, crisp detailing and linear forms. With a focus on juxtaposition and contrast, we played with the ‘mix’; utilising a blend of new & vintage pieces, differing shapes & textures, and touches of whimsy for a lived in feel.

DOWNLOAD NOW Referred by past clients, the homeowners of this Glen Ellyn project were in need of an update and improvement in functionality for their kitchen, mudroom and laundry room. The spacious kitchen had a great layout, but benefitted from a new island, countertops, hood, backsplash, hardware, plumbing and lighting fixtures. The main focal point is now the premium hand-crafted CopperSmith hood along with a dramatic tiered chandelier over the island. In addition, painting the wood beadboard ceiling and staining the existing beams darker helped lighten the space while the amazing depth and variation only available in natural stone brought the entire room together. For the mudroom and laundry room, choosing complimentary paint colors and charcoal wave wallpaper brought depth and coziness to this project. The result is a timeless design for this Glen Ellyn family. This 1956 John Calder Mackay home had been poorly renovated in years past. We kept the 1400 sqft footprint of the home, but re-oriented and re-imagined the bland white kitchen to a midcentury olive green kitchen that opened up the sight lines to the wall of glass facing the rear yard. We chose materials that felt authentic and appropriate for the house: handmade glazed ceramics, bricks inspired by the California coast, natural white oaks heavy in grain, and honed marbles in complementary hues to the earth tones we peppered throughout the hard and soft finishes. This project was featured in the Wall Street Journal in April 2022.
