Eichler in Marinwood - At the larger scale of the property existed a desire to soften and deepen the engagement between the house and the street frontage. As such, the landscaping palette consists of textures chosen for subtlety and granularity. Spaces are layered by way of planting, diaphanous fencing and lighting. The interior engages the front of the house by the insertion of a floor to ceiling glazing at the dining room. Jog-in path from street to house maintains a sense of privacy and sequential unveiling of interior/private spaces. We blended the client's cool and contemporary style with the home's classic midcentury architecture in this post and beam renovation. It was important to define each space within this open concept plan with strong symmetrical furniture and lighting. A special feature in the living room is the solid white oak built-in shelves designed to house our client's art while maximizing the height of the space.

玄関の使いやすさと安全性は妥協しない

高齢化社会を迎える日本にとって、住宅のバリアフリー化は重要な課題です。玄関エリアに段差をなくし緩やかなスロープを設置すれば、車椅子でも簡単に、そして安全に出入りすることが可能になります。スロープを設けるスペースがない場合は、階段昇降機で対応することも可能です。手すりは、車椅子に乗る人用とその他の家族用の2種類を設置しましょう。玄関に車椅子用の収納スペースを確保すると、外出準備が一箇所にまとまるので便利です。
