The wallcovering in the dining room captures attention and makes a bold statement. We wanted to ensure the dining room coordinated with the family room, but would set a tone all of its own. The navy and gold wallcovering has a vintage vibe with its distinctive, dimensional design crafted from natural materials. Six velvet and gold chairs coordinate with the wallcovering perfectly and provide space and comfort when entertaining. The dining room table is a sharp contrast of bleached pine and a woven cane base and the chandelier brings the design together beautifully with an art deco and modern design. This dining room is glamorous, stylish, vintage, and sophisticated while still being just as welcoming as the homeowners!

This home underwent a massive renovation. Walls were removed, some replaced with stunning archways. A mid-century modern vibe took over, inspiring the white oak floos, white and oak cabinetry throughout, terrazzo tiles and overall vibe. Our whimiscal side, wanting to pay homage to the clients meditteranean roots, and their desire to entertain as much as possible, found amazing vintage-style tiles to incorporate into the laundry room along with a terrazzo floor tile. The living room boasts built-ins, a huge porcelain slab that echos beach/ocean views and artwork that establishes the client's love of beach moments. A dining room focussed on dinner parties includes an innovative wine storage wall, two hidden wine fridges and enough open cabinetry to display their growing collection of glasses. To enhance the space, a stunning blue grasscloth wallpaper anchors the wine rack, and the stunning gold bulbous chandelier glows in the space. Custom dining chairs and an expansive table provide plenty of seating in this room. The primary bathroom echoes all of the above. Watery vibes on the large format accent tiles, oak cabinetry and a calm, relaxed environment are perfect for this luxe space.

ダイニングは家族がそろって向き合うスペース。食卓を囲んで会話がはずめば、食事もいっそうおいしく感じられることでしょう。日本の家庭では、リビングダイニングとしてまとめられている間取りも多いですが、食事をいただく場所ですので、いつも片付いていて清潔に保たれているようにしたいですね。特に、朝食・ランチ・ディナーすべてをダイニングでとるという方は、いっそうインテリアに力を入れたい場所です。ダイニングの多くがキッチンの隣に設置されている場合、デザインに統一感を持たせると空間がすっきりとした印象になります。

ミッドセンチュリースタイルのダイニングのインテリアは“シンプル”が正解

ダイニングの主役は、ダイニングテーブルに乗る食事です。食事をおいしく食べる場所という役割が明確なダイニングのインテリアは実に悩ましいところです。例えば、レストランではフレンチ、イタリアン、和食、中華とジャンルごとにインテリアも食事に合わせてコーディネートしますが、一般の家庭では今日はイタリアン、今日は和食、とそのときどきによってメニューが変わるのでそうはいきません。なので、どんなものにも合わせやすい、シンプルめなダイニングインテリアで統一するのが正解。その代わり、ランチョンマットを食事によって変えたり、テーブルに季節の花などを飾ったりして、その料理を引き立たせ、かつ、ダイニングルームにアクセントを与えましょう。

ミッドセンチュリースタイルのダイニングの照明の選び方

ダイニングでは照明も重要なポイント。食材をおいしそうに見せ、家族の“おいしい”顔をはっきり映す照明の選び方を知りましょう。ダイニングの照明は、発色をきれいに見せてくれる白熱球がおすすすめです。ダイニングは照明の使用時間も長いので、導入費用はかかれど寿命が長いLEDのタイプが人気です。特に、食欲をかき立てる“赤色”が鮮やかに見えます。また、陰影がはっきりするので立体感が出て、お料理をいっそう美しく、おいしそうに見せます。さらに、ダイニングにペンダントライトを設置する際には、その高さもポイント。高すぎるとまぶしさを感じ、低すぎるとテーブルの端まで光が当たらず、影ができてしまい、せっかくの料理も引き立ちません。シェード（傘）とテーブルまでの距離は、60〜80cm程度はなれているのが理想です。また、バランスのよいシェードの大きさ（直径）はテーブルのサイズの1/3程度とされています。ダイニングの照明は、実際に設置やシミュレーションをしてみないと、明るさや光の届く範囲がなかなか想定できません。ミッドセンチュリースタイルのダイニングの広さや間取り、自然光の入る窓の位置などを把握したうえで、照明の専門家に相談するのがおすすめです。
