Carefully sited to kiss the tips of many existing large oaks, the home is rustic Mediterranean in style which blends integral color plaster walls with Santa Barbara sandstone and cedar board and batt. Landscape Architect Lane Goodkind restored the native grass meadow and added a stream bio-swale which complements the rural setting. 20' mahogany, pocketing sliding doors maximize the indoor / outdoor Santa Barbara lifestyle by opening the living spaces to the pool and island view beyond. A monumental exterior fireplace and camp-style margarita bar add to this romantic living. Discreetly buried in the mission tile roof, solar panels help to offset the home's overall energy consumption. This beautiful whole home remodel was done for a family in Ross California, and no expense was spared in giving them what they dreamed of. A page torn out of a Tuscan retreat, and and brought to their home in California. The beams throughout this home were purchased from a railroad company dating back almost 200 years old. Each one was painstakingly fit into place by carving them to fit the existing ceiling with chainsaws, planers, and lifted into place. There were more than 150 placed throughout the home, and is a finishing touch to this extensive and beautiful transformation. Truly a once in a lifetime project we were blessed to have done.

Moroccan arch brought in by architect, to "recreate" the arch lost at small niche in old kitchen. we wanted to keep the Moroccan element going & thought of putting exotic tile at stove backsplash. We added the cobalt blue tile instead, wood elements (palette wood found by cabinet maker in attic)

This remodeled kitchen was finished in a modern mediterranean style with stunning granite countertops, a rock backsplash, copper hammered farmhouse sink and more custom finishes. The high-end appliances finish the sophisticated look.

In the kitchen we used light hickory cabinets with dark trim. In keeping with the colorful tiles we added colorful ceiling treatments in the kitchen and breakfast area with large dark wood beams for contrast.
