Construction done by Stoltz Installation and Carpentry and humor provided constantly by long-time clients and friends. They did their laundry/mudroom with us and realized soon after the kitchen had to go! We changed from peninsula to an island and the homeowner worked on changing out the golden oak trim as his own side project while the remodel was taking place. We added some painting of the adjacent living room built-ins near the end when they finally agreed it had to be done or they would regret it. A fun coffee bar and and statement backsplash really make this space one of kind.

The living room boasts a two-story wall of glass overlooking the lake and valley views, with atrium doors leading to expansive decking. Upon entering the penthouse the light and dark contrast continues. The exposed ceiling structure is stained to mimic the 1st floor's "tarred" ceiling. The reclaimed fir plank floor is painted a light vanilla cream. And, the hand plastered concrete fireplace is the visual anchor that all the rooms radiate off of. This rustic old cabin has no electricity, except for the windpower. It is located in the Southern California hills by the ocean. A custom designed, handscraped door, whitewashed stained tongue and groove pine paneling, and pine antiques. Everything is new in this cabin, but looks time worn. Multiple Ranch and Mountain Homes are shown in this project catalog: from Camarillo horse ranches to Lake Tahoe ski lodges. Featuring rock walls and fireplaces with decorative wrought iron doors, stained wood trusses and hand scraped beams. Rustic designs give a warm lodge feel to these large ski resort homes and cattle ranches. Pine plank or slate and stone flooring with custom old world wrought iron lighting, leather furniture and handmade, scraped wood dining tables give a warmth to the hard use of these homes, some of which are on working farms and orchards. Antique and new custom upholstery, covered in velvet with deep rich tones and hand knotted rugs in the bedrooms give a softness and warmth so comfortable and livable. In the kitchen, range hoods provide beautiful points of interest, from hammered copper, steel, and wood. Unique stone mosaic, custom painted tile and stone backsplash in the kitchen and baths. designed by Maraya Interior Design. The family room is the primary living space in the home, with beautifully detailed fireplace and built-in shelving surround, as well as a complete window wall to the lush back yard. The stained glass windows and panels were designed and made by the homeowner.

The many patterns and warm colors make this space extra calming and peaceful. We also love the Asian elements brought in along with the Buddha statue and flowers.

A neutral color pallet comes alive with a punch of red to make this family room both comfortable and fun. During the remodel the wood floors were preserved and reclaimed red oak was refinished to match the existing floors for a seamless look.
