The room is designed with the palette of a Conch shell in mind. Pale pink silk-look wallpaper lines the walls, while a Florentine inspired watercolor mural adorns the ceiling and backsplash of the custom built bookcases. A French caned daybed centers the room-- a place to relax and take an afternoon nap, while a silk velvet clad chaise is ideal for reading. Books of natural wonders adorn the lacquered oak table in the corner. A vintage mirror coffee table reflects the light. Shagreen end tables add a bit of texture befitting the coastal atmosphere.

Stepping into the house, we are greeted by the free-flowing spaces of the foyer, living and dining. A white foyer console in turned wood and a wicker-accent mirror gives a taste of the bright, sunny spaces within this abode. The living room with its full-length fenestration brings in a soft glow that lights up the whole space. A snug seating arrangement around a statement West-Elm center table invites one in for warm and cozy conversations. The back-wall has elegant architectural mouldings that add an old-world charm to the space. Within these mouldings are Claymen faces that bring in a touch of whimsy and child-like joy. An azure blue sofa by Asian Arts faces the azure of the ‘blue box’, connected here to the kitchen. Calming creams and whites of the drapes and furnishings are balanced by the warmth of wooden accents.

The original wood paneling and coffered ceiling in the living room was gorgeous, but the hero of the room was the brass and glass light fixture that the previous owner installed. We created a seating area around it with comfy chairs perfectly placed for conversation. Being eco-minded in our approach, we love to re-use items whenever possible. The nesting tables and pale blue storage cabinet are from our client’s previous home, which we also had the privilege to decorate. We supplemented these existing pieces with a new rug, pillow and throw blanket to infuse the space with personality and link the colors of the room together.

For this french cottage inspired home, our Minnesotan designers layered in textures like cashmere, mohair, wool and Belgian linen to lend a feeling of understated sophistication. For the finishing touches, The Sitting Room had incorporated vintage oil paintings, sepia photography and unique accessories.

A neutral color palette punctuated by warm wood tones and large windows create a comfortable, natural environment that combines casual southern living with European coastal elegance. The 10-foot tall pocket doors leading to a covered porch were designed in collaboration with the architect for seamless indoor-outdoor living. Decorative house accents including stunning wallpapers, vintage tumbled bricks, and colorful walls create visual interest throughout the space. The unused dining room was envisioned as a sitting room for family chats, girlfriend wine nights, and couples’ conversations. The inspiration was taken from the vintage stereo cabinet, which the family uses regularly to play LP’s. Lighting, furniture frames, and textural rug all evoke the flavors of the ’60s and warmly invite its guests. The theme continues into the super functional study, using minimalistic furniture (including a recliner that doesn’t look like one!) and a custom-built cabinet with inset drawers and doors, providing tons of storage. The light fixture here is the perfect punctuation to this special space, keeping it open and airy. The kitchen continues to boast minimalistic, yet prominent features. The sliding door, mid-century inspired seating and special glass top table (that has a self-contained extension when the party grows larger) are all unique pieces to define this spacious kitchen. Gold accents are throughout to warm up the space and keep it cozy.

Ce projet de plus de 150 m2 est né par l'unification de deux appartements afin d'accueillir une grande famille. Le défi est alors de concevoir un lieu confortable pour les grands et les petits, un lieu de convivialité pour tous, en somme un vrai foyer chaleureux au cœur d'un des plus anciens quartiers de la ville. Le volume sous la charpente est généreusement exploité pour réaliser un espace ouvert et modulable, la zone jour. Elle est composée de trois espaces distincts tout en étant liés les uns aux autres par une grande verrière structurante réalisée en chêne. Le séjour est le lieu où se retrouve la famille, où elle accueille, en lien avec la cuisine pour la préparation des repas, mais aussi avec la salle d’étude pour surveiller les devoirs des quatre petits écoliers.
