A fully opened main floor renovation in this once traditional Toronto Townhome. A young chef wanted this kitchen to be modern, fully functional, innovative and cool. A little industrial meets a lot contemporary, meets warm wood and cold quartz. As one wall came down, we did our best to create an island, but with the narrow space, it truly made no sense. So to save as much counter space as we could, yet be able to seat as many people as possible, we created a walnut topped peninsula with a waterfall drop leaf. The leaf lifts up, to reveal a waterfall that matches the rest of the kitchen. It was one of the most difficult things we have ever done, as the leaf and counter are solid walnut and very heavy. A hidden leg helps to bear the weight when the leaf is opened up. The rest of this main floor, open to the kitchen, boasts many modern design elemends, such as sleek, curved furnishings, and fun lighting fixtures. A deature wall in the living area houses a tv and is clad in a custom tile and walnut design. Just look at how they dealt with the air return on the wall! This project was a total renovation from basement to upper level, a total of four floors, with the goal of really outdoing ourselves for this young client.

Le coin salon est dans un angle mi-papier peint, mi-peinture blanche. Un miroir fenêtre pour le papier peint, qui vient rappeler les fenêtres en face et créer une illusion de vue, et pour le mur blanc des étagères en quinconce avec des herbiers qui ramènent encore la nature à l'intérieur. Souligné par cette suspension aérienne et filaire xxl qui englobe bien tout !

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below. Le projet Un appartement de style haussmannien de 60m2 avec un couloir étroit et des petites pièces à transformer avec une belle pièce à vivre. Notre solution Nous supprimons les murs du couloir qui desservaient séjour puis cuisine et salle de bain. A la place, nous créons un bel espace ouvert avec cuisine contemporaine. L’ancienne cuisine est aménagée en dressing et une salle de bains est créée, attenante à la chambre parentale. Le style Le charme de l’ancien est conservé avec le parquet, les boiseries, cheminée et moulures. Des carreaux ciments délimitent l’espace repas et les boiseries sont mises en avant avec un bleu profond que l’on retrouve sur les murs. La décoration est chaleureuse et de type scandinave.

Popular Scandinavian-style interiors blog 'These Four Walls' has collaborated with Kährs for a scandi-inspired, soft and minimalist living room makeover. Kährs worked with founder Abi Dare to find the perfect hard wearing and stylish floor to work alongside minimalist decor. Kährs' ultra matt 'Oak Sky' engineered wood floor design was the perfect fit. "I was keen on the idea of pale Nordic oak and ordered all sorts of samples, but none seemed quite right – until a package arrived from Swedish brand Kährs, that is. As soon as I took a peek at ‘Oak Sky’ ultra matt lacquered boards I knew they were the right choice – light but not overly so, with a balance of ashen and warmer tones and a beautiful grain. It creates the light, Scandinavian vibe that I love, but it doesn’t look out of place in our Victorian house; it also works brilliantly with the grey walls. I also love the matte finish, which is very hard wearing but has none of the shininess normally associated with lacquer" says Abi. Oak Sky is the lightest oak design from the Kährs Lux collection of one-strip ultra matt lacquer floors. The semi-transparent white stain and light and dark contrasts in the wood makes the floor ideal for a scandi-chic inspired interior. The innovative surface treatment is non-reflective; enhancing the colour of the floor while giving it a silky, yet strong shield against wear and tear. Kährs' Lux collection won 'Best Flooring' at the House Beautiful Awards 2017.
