With an outstanding view of the pool and the wetlands, the great room is purposely void of a television. To the left, a stone fireplace is featured against a massive wall with display shelves and a floor-to-ceiling column of touch-latch storage. This stained wall is a wonderful exhibit of rift sawn lumber, which is milled perpendicular to the growth rings, yielding a tight, linear grain with no flecking.

This space is more intimate than the expansive family room but with the same mountain modern home furnishings from the Aspen Design Room. With the built in fireplace, wall mounted TV and proximity to the kitchen this is the go to space for watching your favorite football team or sporting event!

On the left, we carry fluted wood cabinet doors from the floor to the ceiling hiding extra storage and carrying in some natural texture. Below the mantle, the cabinets carry across 4-feet wide, while at the top, we took them 2-feet wide and then transitioned to open shelving with gray mirror backs. Slim, linear lights illuminate the shelving at night and highlight all the accessories that we styled in them.

Our client’s charming cottage was no longer meeting the needs of their family. We needed to give them more space but not lose the quaint characteristics that make this little historic home so unique. So we didn’t go up, and we didn’t go wide, instead we took this master suite addition straight out into the backyard and maintained 100% of the original historic façade. Master Suite This master suite is truly a private retreat. We were able to create a variety of zones in this suite to allow room for a good night’s sleep, reading by a roaring fire, or catching up on correspondence. The fireplace became the real focal point in this suite. Wrapped in herringbone whitewashed wood planks and accented with a dark stone hearth and wood mantle, we can’t take our eyes off this beauty. With its own private deck and access to the backyard, there is really no reason to ever leave this little sanctuary. Master Bathroom The master bathroom meets all the homeowner’s modern needs but has plenty of cozy accents that make it feel right at home in the rest of the space. A natural wood vanity with a mixture of brass and bronze metals gives us the right amount of warmth, and contrasts beautifully with the off-white floor tile and its vintage hex shape. Now the shower is where we had a little fun, we introduced the soft matte blue/green tile with satin brass accents, and solid quartz floor (do you see those veins?!). And the commode room is where we had a lot fun, the leopard print wallpaper gives us all lux vibes (rawr!) and pairs just perfectly with the hex floor tile and vintage door hardware. Hall Bathroom We wanted the hall bathroom to drip with vintage charm as well but opted to play with a simpler color palette in this space. We utilized black and white tile with fun patterns (like the little boarder on the floor) and kept this room feeling crisp and bright.

This intimate space is cozy and inviting with a pop of color. Floor to ceiling windows bring the outdoors in and creates a connection to the changing seasons. The build in fire place creates a focal point, and the coziest seat in the house.

The design of this refined mountain home is rooted in its natural surroundings. Boasting a color palette of subtle earthy grays and browns, the home is filled with natural textures balanced with sophisticated finishes and fixtures. The open floorplan ensures visibility throughout the home, preserving the fantastic views from all angles. Furnishings are of clean lines with comfortable, textured fabrics. Contemporary accents are paired with vintage and rustic accessories. To achieve the LEED for Homes Silver rating, the home includes such green features as solar thermal water heating, solar shading, low-e clad windows, Energy Star appliances, and native plant and wildlife habitat. Level Three: We selected a suspension light (metal, glass and silver-leaf) as a key feature of the living room seating area to counter the bold fireplace. It lends drama (albeit, subtle) to the room with its abstract shapes. The silver planes become ephemeral when they reflect and refract the environment: high storefront windows overlooking big blue skies, roaming clouds and solid mountain vistas. Another meticulous installation of a luxurious, light oak, oversized herringbone parquet floor with expert subfloor reconstruction and soundproofing in top floor mansion flat, Maida Vale W9. The objective of this project was to conduct a subfloor reconstruction and fitting a new parquet floor in a distinguished top-floor Victorian mansion flat in Maida Vale. Our customers expressed a preference for the sophisticated aesthetic of light oak oversized herringbone parquet flooring. Given the intricacy of the task at hand in this restricted period property, the project required experts to oversee and execute the sound proofing and installation of a new parquet floor with meticulous attention to detail, from inception to completion.

The challenge with this project was to transform a very traditional house into something more modern and suited to the lifestyle of a young couple just starting a new family. We achieved this by lightening the overall color palette with soft grays and neutrals. Then we replaced the traditional dark colored wood and tile flooring with lighter wide plank hardwood and stone floors. Next we redesigned the kitchen into a more workable open plan and used top of the line professional level appliances and light pigmented oil stained oak cabinetry. Finally we painted the heavily carved stained wood moldings and library and den cabinetry with a fresh coat of soft pale light reflecting gloss paint. Photographer: James Koch
